littleman jack #1 Posted December 7, 2008 Hello all, I have a 2600 Vader that is experiencing a slight problem, and I am looking for any ideas to fix it. Whenever I put in a cartridge, upon turning it on, the picture rolls several times before settling down. Sometimes I even need to turn it off and on several tries before it settles down. It is quite like when you put a PAL game into a non-PAL system. Any ideas on why it is doing this? It does it with every game that I have tried, except Pac-Man. For Pac-Man, the game looks almost correct, but the ghosts move erratically and the "fruit" appears in incorrect places. Thanks for any help.
AtariLeaf #2 Posted December 7, 2008 Just ask the Jedi about their problems with Vader. . . Sorry couldn't resist. Do you have another console to try in its place to see if it still happens? I wonder if the Vertical hold on your TV isn't a bit out of adjustment.
sandmountainslim #3 Posted December 7, 2008 I have a thread here somewhere about my Vader console. It jumps and rolls when I put certain games in. Apparently mine only does it with games that use bankswitching, All other games play fine. I just hooked up a six switcher to solve the trouble. Rik #4 Posted December 7, 2008 (edited) Yeah like one mentioned above, check the TV'S video/vertical hold 1st.I always say to check TV before blaming the console, switchbox,rf cord, etc.I had the same problem, turned out to be a malfunctioning V-HOLD on the TV,my consoles were fine. Something similar happened to me. I thought my video pots needed adjusting on my 7800 but when I got the same colors on an already tuned six-switch I realized the color was wrong on my Commodore 1802 and not the console itself.
