Any RealDos Users out there?

Recommended Posts

A fellow Atari user recently told me that he is using RealDos, and that got me thinking about it. RealDos has been available for at least a year, so certainly some folks have had an opportunity to try it. Anyone care to chime in about it? Tried it, and really liked it? Or perhaps tried it and didn't like it? Does it have any really great features that are unique? Can it run from a flash cartridge? Just curious...

I tried running it on my BBS setup (A800Win 2.5c EMU & BBS:Express PRO 2.1a) but when a user logged off and the BBS updated its files, I got a string of ERROR 135's so I could not run it.

One of the partitions on my MIO HD currently is RealDOS and it seems to work fine although I have not really used it much.

All of my SpartaDOS HDTools that I have run on it seem to work fine, but again I haven't used it much.

Steve has also identified a major bug in it that prevents it from booting from an MIO/BLACKBOX hardisk partition. He should have a new build available soon.

Then yours is just magic.. You should send him a dump of your MIO config. Maybe theres more variables to the problem...

ANywayze.. Steve says its real easy to fix. He just has to get back in a position to do some coding.

How would I go about dumping the config? I think I used to have a MIOSAVE program - probably still have it. Maybe it was called MIOCFG? Is that what you mean?

For games I use MyDOS, but for most application word processing etc... it use Real dos. Now that I have an Atarimax 1mb Flashcart with SDX 4.41 I have it plugged in about 30% of the time..

Looking forward to the new release of SDX 4.42

Yeah. There should be a program in the realdos distro that will save the config to a file.
