Atari Joystick tricks

Recommended Posts

Has anyone done crazy things like opening up an Atari Joystick

and held down 2 or more buttons inside?

Some of the effects are interesting.

Many are found at http://www.digitpress.com/eastereggs/2600.htm

where I've submitted a few.

But here are some I recently found:

KANGAROO

Tapping down all buttons causes Kangaroo to escape the level

he's on. Depending how long the tap, he may end just below the

regular level and you may be able to see him if you jump.

If he ends down much further below the screen so you can't see

him, Kangaroo may end up at the top if you jump (yes! the screen

wraps around).

SPACE ATTACK

In space mode, pressing all button causes your gunsight to quickly

go to the bottom left hand corner.

VANGUARD

Hold down game select and game reset.

LOST LUGGAGE

Holding down the Right and Down and Fire button and having the

difficulty switch to B, causes another guy to appear outside the

screen.

TIME WARP

Go through the games very quickly by holding down game select and

game reset.

Another, allow game to start playing. Then push game select and

game will freeze.

I haven't read/posted anthing for awhile. So I thought I'd mentioned this.

In Stellar Doomsday Interceptor (mini-game) pushing left and right simultaneously will cause the aiming cursor to move sideways, but will not move the actual point of aim. Shots will thus explode in a spot completely independent of where they were aimed.

well i used to do this trick where i shoved the atari joystick up her butt... (JK) :)

That is one my many favorite things about my favorite atari 2600 controller, the sansei (which I have posted about here before,) you can hit all the buttons at once with ease :) no hacking neccessary.
