cimerians #2 Posted December 12, 2008 For those interested in the latest 360 build. Benheck shows how to spot one. http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/10/inside-...ythical-consol/ Looks like its the 12 amp marking and the slit in the middle of the the black bar of the power port. Regarding the phillips DVD drive: I was wondering if the Jasper is quieter? As my old 360 sounds like a Jet taking off.
NE146 #3 Posted December 12, 2008 The Lite-on dvd drives are apparently quiet.
moycon #4 Posted December 12, 2008 As my old 360 sounds like a Jet taking off. When it's running, my old 360 sounds like a dozen fist sized rocks tumbleing in a clothes dryer. That's why I was interested in the Jasper. I hope it's quieter.
yuppicide #5 Posted December 14, 2008 My friend had problems with his 360 not reading discs. He already had RROD once or twice so this was a refurb. He went out and bought a 360 Arcade. Didn't look for any specific Jasper or Falcon. Just got whatever they had. It's extremely quiet.

I have one of the first HDMI models and after I turn the thing on I have to check to make sure my tray table is in the upright position.. ..Al
moycon #7 Posted December 14, 2008 When it's running, my old 360 sounds like a 1977 Camaro with no muffler. Instead of "Your mamma's so fat" jokes, in this forum we goty " Your 360 is so loud jokes" Anyways, Due to an awesome deal I got on Cyber Monday. (40% MS product) I snagged yet another 360. The newer one definitly seem quieter. Silent?.... No, but you can tell the difference when you insert a disk. I didn't get a Jasper, but according to Ben's site there's not a HUGE difference between the two so I'm happy getting a Falcon at 40% off than a Jasper at full price. +Random Terrain #8 Posted December 14, 2008 I can't wait until enough time has gone by so we can find out if the Jaspers will be long lasting. If they lasts 6 months or more without people throwing them out the window, I will go to the store to buy a Jasper and find out that the 360 has been discontinued and they're only selling the Xbox 720 which will melt a hole through your floor and keep going until it hits China and it takes them another 5 years to bring out a build that won't liquefy rock just before they release the Xbox 1440 that will give off lethal blasts of radiation (of course, eXtrEmE players will love it). moycon #9 Posted December 14, 2008 (of course, eXtrEmE players will love it). Just go buy a damn 360 already RT. If you go buy a 360 tomorrow, I'll give you the $$ to get an extended warranty and you won't have to worry if it breaks. (You know you wont because you're scared.) +Random Terrain #10 Posted December 14, 2008 You know I won't because I won't have the money until 2009. I finally have my refrigerator, recumbent exercise bike, and air purifier. Not that much left on the list of things to have now. The countdown to an Xbox 360 is getting louder. After that will be an HD TV and a Blu-ray player. moycon #11 Posted December 14, 2008 You bought a recumbent exercise bike before an Xbox 360??? I pity you.
