A pleasant surprise last night....

Recommended Posts

I was in a restaurant last night and when I went to go wash my hands after ordering....I came across two old arcade coin ops. One was still too new for me...I didn't pay it any attention....but the second one was.......MR. DO! (!!!!!!) In EXCELLENT condition. I think it was the first time I've ever played the arcade version. I didn't play it back in the golden age.

The woman who I am dating watched me play but admitted she didn't know what was going on. HA!

You are a lucky guy. I haven't seen an old arcade machine around my area for a long, long time. The eateries I go into have only the racing stuff or "prize" machines, no Space Invaders, Pac-Man, etc. The only other place I can play the old stuff is at Funspot, and that's about a two-hour drive. :x

Oh yea. I couldn't believe I stumbled across it. Expecially the shape it was in.

Actually, I posted last summer how I found a Donkey Kong Jr. machine at a local tourist trap. So that's 2 surprises this year.

Leave them a card and tell them you collect those "old dinosaurs"And you are looking to restore a Mr Do cab, indicating his is good for parts lol.

Maybe a subliminal "put down" will give the owner food for though as times get tough! :)

Damn! My halo fell off!

I love Mr. Do! I hope your girl didn't mind you playing. I'd have been there awhile on one play.

I want to go up to Funspot but am having trouble convincing my Girlfriend to go. If I go by myself she'll think I am up to something else, but honestly I'd be there playing video games for 5 hours lol. It's probably an 8 or 9 hour drive for me.

That's pretty cool. I get to see/play a Centipede (with a wonky trak-ball), Ms. Pac-Man (with speed-up hack) and a Galaga machine everyday in the 12th floor breakroom where I work. Stores and restaurants around here have pretty much dumped all the arcade machines even the new stuff.

Well, we haven't been dating that long...so she was supportive. ;)

Plus, I'm not very good....I played 3 games and it didn't take me that long.

For free, or do you still have to feed quarters?

I'd like a break room like that.

Free play of course. But I'd like to see the Centipede machine serviced to fix the trak-ball problem.

You should have played with this girl not with the arcade! :x

Dunno about Germany...but here in the US, restaurants have rules about that sort of thing.

"Can you two get a room? I'm trying to eat over here."
