GreenDayRlz #29 Posted December 27, 2008 I also think Galaga is one of the best ports from arcade to NES out there. I didn't see a difference at first XD

KIWASABI #36 Posted December 28, 2008 (edited) Cabal: Since this game was made by Rare while they were still awesome, this port is much better than the arcade version. It's a very unique shooter since it's the shooting gallery genre of shooter, which is very uncommon. I only play this game once in a while for like 30 minutes since it seems to give me carpal tunnel instantly. The Punisher: This game is most likely more nostalgia than quality, but I still think it is pretty fun. It's somewhat similar to Cabal (but not as good). Also, while these aren't "sleeper hits", I definitely think that these are under appreciated: Adventure Island: This game is easily better than the original Mario. It's way faster plus you get to shoot stuff and ride a skateboard. I wish that this series would have survived and Mario would've ceased to exist. Battletoads: Best 2d game ever, in my opinion. 99% of people who played this game couldn't get past the 3rd level and so they have bitter memories of the game. This is very unfortunate because this game is simply amazing. Every level in this game is completely different from the last. Battletoads has the most gameplay variety I've ever seen in an old school game, and it is well done. Edited December 28, 2008 by KIWASABI
KIWASABI #37 Posted December 28, 2008 (edited) I thought of some more: S.C.A.T.: Back when Natsume was making more than just Harvest Moon, they were making some very cool games (Shatterhand and Shadow of the Ninja were some more of their good ones). This is an extremely great shooter that I highly recommend. I only came across this game randomly fairly recently and I love it. This has gameplay exactly like Forgotten Worlds. Zombie Nation: This shooter is too hilarious to pass up. You're a giant floating head that shoots. Even though it isn't the greatest shooter, it has a good novelty value to it just because of the premise. Gun.Smoke: Since everyone is talking about all of the overhead shooters on NES, I'll go ahead and add this one to the list. It's a good port of a pretty good arcade game. It's worth checking out. Metal Storm: I almost forgot this one. This is a great platform shooter that a friend of mine introduced me to recently (it's his favorite NES game). I haven't bought this one yet, but based on playing it emulated this game is very fun. Edited December 28, 2008 by KIWASABI
theking21083 #38 Posted December 28, 2008 Some of my favorites are Short Order/Eggsplode - Two fun games in one cart that uses the Power Pad. It's way better then all of the racing games and Dance Aerobics. Space Shuttle Project - If you like Space Shuttle for the Atari 2600 then you will love Space Shuttle Project on the NES. Gumshoe - A very fun and different light gun game that doesn't get much talk.
monev77 #39 Posted December 28, 2008 Airwolf - great graphics, cool gameplay, and a lot of people didn;t heard about this game.
KIWASABI #40 Posted December 28, 2008 I thought of another one: Panic Restaurant: A fun little platformer developed by Taito in which you're a chef who is fighting against various types of food. This game has very unique bosses that are pretty funny.
2600Lives #41 Posted December 29, 2008 Abadox - One of my all time favorite NES games. Had some of the best graphics I'd ever seen, and was challenging without being overly cheap. Battle Of Olympus - Long, involved, and HARD. Excellent game all around. The Lone Ranger - Much better than it had ANY right to be, and adds a cool RPG element to things. I grew up watching TLR, and this was just SO cool. Power Blade 1 & 2 - Both damn good action games. Some of the best on the system, in fact. This was the kind of game the NES was MADE for, man. Journey To Silius - Excellent side-scrolling platformer. Nothing too special, but had some fun little twists to it.

bomberpunk #43 Posted December 29, 2008 Bomberman - this game didn't get popular in the states until the franchise exploded on the SNES way after the NES was already dead. Super Dodge Ball - one of the best titles for the NES in my opinion, with some really memorable characters and some great catchy tunes. the sound effect used when the ball hits someone at full speed is satisfying and unmatched. **SPACK!!** Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight - the problem with this game is that it's way too hard. use a game genie to give yourself a fighting chance (like not losing powerups when you get hit, that was just unfair) and you'll have a stellar platformer with exceptional graphics and a bad-ass soundtrack. This game did always seem promising, but I could never get past the second level or so. This is good advice. I'm going to pick this game up and give it a try with my game genie. Thanks! Geeze Louise guys what ever happened to practice and getting good at a game? I had the Japanese verison of Street Fighter 2010 and although it had a learning curve (I didnt evne know what was going on), I eventually got good enough at it to finish the entire game easily. It was definitely more more rewarding that way. The game is designed so you have to learn how the guy moves and practice moving him around easily. My dude was a dancing and fighting machine

Lauren Tyler #49 Posted December 29, 2008 8 Eyes - A test of repetitiveness, but it can be fun if you're patient enough. Astyanax - A lot of fun, yes, but very difficult too. Captain Skyhawk - How can nobody mention this? Raid on Bungeling Bay - Very unique and fun. It's ironic to think that the computer versions' level editor was what inspired Will Wright to design Sim City.
figgler #50 Posted December 29, 2008 Legacy of the Wizard – This is a fun action, puzzle, RPG game. You control five family members on a quest to slay a dragon. It is hard but that is why it drives some players away. If you don’t read the manual it is all most imposable to beat. I’m working on it now but hope to beat it before next month. One of the greatest games ever made IMO. I am proud to brag about finishing it too. I've only ever known one other person who has done it
