Nintendo DS Paddle Controller

Technically, these are not paddles, but are spinners with free rotation. But anyway, these import add-ons for DS are compatible with US hardware and US versions of Arkanoid DS and Space Invaders Extreme DS. I just got mine this week and it is the best paddle i've used since the original VCS paddles. The only color available is pink at the moment, but for the price and control you can't beat these.

but sadly they don't vibrate...

I wish they did, since space invaders really does like doing that.

that's actually the reason I haven't jumped on board. why spend money to get a worse space invaders experience?

its worth it for arkanoid alone, and maybe just maybe, there will be paddle support for future retro collections

The paddle is awesome and works very nicely with Arkanoid and Space Invaders, just purchased all three to give to my brother for Christmas. Which version DS doesn't support the paddles? They work nicely on the original and DS Lite.

I bought one on Japanese import along with Arkanoid DS and Space Invaders Extreme shortly after it was released and have been extremely impressed with it so far. I have the silver one as the white one to match my DS Lite was sold out at the time. It sticks out a little from the system as its also designed to work on the original model DS but its no inconvenience. All I wish for now, in my dreams maybe, is for Tempest 2000 or a variant on it to be released on DS which is compatible with the Taito Spinner controller as that game would be utterly sublime imo.

I bought one from an importer on Ebay.

I love it! Have used it on Arkanoid and Space Invaders Extreme and it's great!

I hear it works with Mario Kart? Anybody actually tried this?

Too bad it's never going to be supported anymore. I wish Nintendo would have left the DS alone. Of course, without the GBA port, you'll be buying (again) and downloading your games, which is the real point to the redesign. Our beloved paddle controllers are some serious collateral damage!

I imported a white one on the day of release. Nice toy, but a shame it died a couple of weeks ago :(

Also agree that it is a real shame that it will not work with the DSi that has been released recently

I'm a little late to this thread, but...

There is a youtube video somewhere of someone playing Mario Kart with the paddle; I think they used some sort of Gameshark code or something. I have read elsewhere that it doesn't work all that great. I read somewhere that there is a Homebrew Pong game that uses the paddle... I'm not sure about any others.

Space Puzzle Bobble is the third game that I have played with the paddle (the others being Arkanoid and Space Invaders Extreme). I honestly wouldn't have been all that interested in the game if it weren't for the paddle support - how many versions of Bust-A-Move do I need to buy, anyways? However, it's amazing how fun it is to play Puzzle Bobble with the paddle! Although I'm not too far along in the game, I recommend picking it up if you own the Taito paddle for your DS. ;)
