neotokeo2001 #1 Posted December 24, 2008 (edited) This is the very strange recording from the promotional record that DATA AGE gave away to promote their Atari 2600 games. Images of the games are from the Atari Age database. Edited December 24, 2008 by neotokeo2001

Chris-in-NJ #5 Posted December 24, 2008 I love it. Copied it to a cassette way back when when I picked it up in a game store, and still have the cassett, it's creepy.e. Back in 1990 in high school, I played it on the cable TV station they had on Halloween.

neotokeo2001 #8 Posted December 24, 2008 (edited) Request for the full add: I would have added it to the first post but it seems the editing option drops off after a few minutes. Not a bad thing. Edited December 24, 2008 by neotokeo2001
moycon #9 Posted December 24, 2008 I had this record back in the day. Always liked it. Someone posted the mp3 a few months back and it's not a permanent addition to my mp3 player. I played it for my GF a few weeks ago.

Zwackery #11 Posted December 24, 2008 I like listening to this awesome video game weirdness. It reminds me of some AudiSee story cassettes I had (and still have). I stay on the watch for a legit copy of the record, I'd like to add it to my stack of Atari records.

Chris-in-NJ #14 Posted December 24, 2008 "You are about to enter a new dimension of experience. You will venture to a place beyond reality, where both space and time transform into grotesque realities..." I must've played my tape of this so many times that I've got most of the dialogue memorized by now. Now, if I could only find the hatch key.
bcprs1 #15 Posted December 24, 2008 With horrible games like that, Data Age had to do something to make them seem more exciting. I love the ad - move up to Data Age. Up from what???
+doctorclu #16 Posted December 24, 2008 With horrible games like that, Data Age had to do something to make them seem more exciting. I love the ad - move up to Data Age. Up from what??? LOL! Exactly. The ad reminded me of the "soundtrack" from Galaxy of Terror. (1981 B rate sci-fi/horror film)

Godzilla #20 Posted December 24, 2008 I dunno, who else back then was trying to create back-story and atmosphere? Move up to a new level of video game ephemera I wanted one of these back in the day when I saw the ads but could never find one neat to finally hear it after all these years. I still want one, myself

CrazyChris #22 Posted December 24, 2008 Thanks! I'm into scary sound effects. I was surprised at how professional it sounds. I enjoyed the slide show too. Chris
tremoloman2006 #23 Posted December 24, 2008 This reminds me of a ride at an amusement park ride called "Bermuda Triangle" I used to ride at Paragon Park (Hull, MA) back when I was a kid. It sounded very similar as you floated through a dark tunnel on a boat, with blacklit-neon plastic monsters going "BOOOOOOOOOO!" at you as we slowly floated through the tunnels. Good times. This picture doesn't do it justice but you get the idea...
tremoloman2006 #24 Posted December 24, 2008 I had to add a color picture - I don't want people thinking I'm from 1940
tremoloman2006 #25 Posted December 24, 2008 Does anyone have the mp3 files of the Atari story records?
