+Propane13 #1 Posted December 31, 2008 Hi! I recently had a friend say that they had never beaten any video game before. So, I thought I'd post the question-- what's the fastest Atari game to "beat"? I think of these: - The Last Ninja - 10 seconds (of course, that's why it sucks donkey) - Airlock - 49 or 99 seconds - Superman (if you cheat) - a few seconds I don't count "get the best time" games, since there always seems to be room for improvement. And, I'm not sure about vs. the computer games at the moment (i.e. Fishing Derby against the computer)-- I don't think it would give real "I beat the game" satisfaction; rather, it would give an "I beat a computer" sort of feeling. Thoughts? Any good ones to add to the list? -John
IHATETHEBEARS #2 Posted December 31, 2008 Adventure can be beat in about 30 seconds. Haunted House (if you're lucky and find everything on the first floor) can be beat in about 10 seconds. What is The Last Ninja?
Mayhem #3 Posted December 31, 2008 Dragster is probably the shortest legitimate completion.
+Propane13 #4 Posted December 31, 2008 What is The Last Ninja? It's a terrible homebrew that came out in 2007. I usually do not say bad things about homebrews, as I'm a homebrew author myself. But, this one and N.E.R.D.S. were exceptions. They were badly programmed, overpriced homebrews that were made secretly with no community involvement, and then released through atari2600.com The game can be bought here: https://www.atari2600.com/item--The-Last-Ni...A26GAM1848.html Here's a really fun review: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?a...;showentry=4053 It has a movie of gameplay to show how minimalistic it is. I had written one myself when it was up in the atariage store, but I can't find it. -John -John
+Propane13 #5 Posted December 31, 2008 Dragster is probably the shortest legitimate completion. How do you define "complete"? A certain time? -John
Snider-man #6 Posted December 31, 2008 Dragster is probably the shortest legitimate completion. How do you define "complete"? A certain time? -John I think what Mayhem meant was that a game of Dragster - from start to legit "end" (crossing the finish line) - can be as quick as 5.51 seconds (if you're Todd Rogers). nester #7 Posted December 31, 2008 So I guess we're not counting Word Zapper or Fire Fighter then, because they can both be finished in only a few seconds.

Deteacher #11 Posted January 1, 2009 You can KO the computer in Activision Boxing in less than 30 seconds if your timing is right.
Bakasama #12 Posted January 1, 2009 how do you cheat on superman? That depends on which version of Superman you have. If you have the early version of Superman, just hold the fire button at the beginning of the game to keep Superman from changing into Clark Kent. Wait two seconds, then you can fly towards the bridge and the it won't blow up. Then all you have to do is just send Lex Luthor and his goons to jail. If you have the later version, this won't work.
