2600Lives #1 Posted January 2, 2009 So, today, on a lark, I stop at a local thrift store. Now, in the past, this particular one had a LOT of stuff, now it's mostly PC joysticks and junk (though I did find a working Tandy 1000EX there some months back for 4 bucks). So, what do I see staring at me from the front display case? An Intellivision. Boxed. With 14 games. All boxed. With EVERYTHING, overlays, instructions, and the catalogs. And an Intellivoice. Boxed. Never before OPENED. How much? 25 bucks. HOLY CRAP! Everything works great, too. It's all in very, VERY good condition. My Inty broke years ago and I never replaced it, but I sure as hell did today! Most places around here you can't even get an Inty alone with no games or anything for less than 60 bucks, so this was an absolute STEAL. Finally I can listen to the beautiful sounds of B-17 Bawwmer! The box the system came in even had the price tag of 249.87 (on sale from 299.99), and it had the original store reciept in it, with a sale date of 10-28-82. Damn! Royalshin #4 Posted January 2, 2009 Your going to see alot of this since all these digital luny bins think what they are getting is a better deal.
AtariLeaf #5 Posted January 2, 2009 Very nice. A little suprised they were open today. Thrifts around here are always closed just about any holiday you can think of.

the maddestman #7 Posted January 2, 2009 Awesome! I found an Atari 2600 for sale the other day for $2, including all cords, joystick, etc. Only reason I didn't grab it - no cartridges included, and they didn't have any there either, and I don't have any either. Might still go back to grab it after all tho.
fiddlepaddle #8 Posted January 2, 2009 Cool find. If it's like the thrifts around here, they probably had it for sale between Thanksgiving and Christmas for $450 and it didn't sell, so they marked it down to make space.
2600Lives #9 Posted January 2, 2009 Grab that Atari. It's always nice to have spare systems, just in case. Or, have one you can tinker with for video modding or something.

shadow460 #11 Posted January 2, 2009 Awesome find! I've found boxed Inty stuff in the wild before. Matter of fact, there are some of the Game X Changes that had it just recently and may still have it.
VideoFever1982 #12 Posted January 2, 2009 Nice find!! I don't think thrifting will be dead for a long long time. I do it a lot myself.
shadow460 #13 Posted January 2, 2009 Out of curiosity, what games did you get?
2600Lives #14 Posted January 2, 2009 Well, it had 14 games, but 8 of them I already owned. It had... The games I didn't have. Donkey Kong MLB Baseball Space Armada Poker And Blackjack NFL Football PGA Golf The guy really liked his sports games. Now, the ones I had already. Lock 'N' Chase Space Spartans Bomb Squad Astrosmash Star Strike Space Battle Auto Racing Sea Battle So, yeah, nothing special or anything as far as games go, but still, just having the system plugs a HUGE hole in my overall collection. After these acquisitions, I have a grand total of 26 Inty games. Not a huge number (especially compared to my 2600 and NES collection), but I have lots of fun stuff to play on it. I'd also never actually played the Donkey Kong game, and holy CRAP is it terrible. My favorite Inty game has always been the AD&D game, though, so I'll be playing that one till my fingers cramp! shadow460 #16 Posted January 2, 2009 Got your PM earlier. I'll still keep my eyes open for Inty stuff around here in the future. I may buy an Inty after all, heck I might even see if that dead Inty II is still out there waiting for me to fix.

sandmountainslim #18 Posted January 4, 2009 THRIFTING LIVES!! I found a working 4 switch woody and two joysticks, set of paddle controllers with Pac Man and Circus Atari for ONE DOLLAR at a thrift store yesterday, it was all in a plastic bag. I have five working 2600 consoles so I gave it to a friend of mine who didn't have one. That may be the best deal I ever saw. Wp
shadow460 #19 Posted January 4, 2009 Lucky you, slim! Ast time I found a 2600 in a thrift it was around $50 for a Woody and about 20 commons. I walked away.
2600Lives #21 Posted January 4, 2009 Sorry, no camera. Lol. Tried to trade in the extra games to Vintage Stock yesterday. Wow. They were going to give me 10 cents each. Ummm...no. So, I gave them to a friend that has an Inty, too, so that was kind of his late Christmas gift.

So, I gave them to a friend that has an Inty, too, so that was kind of his late Christmas gift. That is so typical of Vintage Stock. It's not like they don't have a system to sell them with, either. But when you look at their selection, the games definitely aren't 10 cents! The cheapest boxed games I've seen there run at least $4. Think GameStop with old games instead of new. 2600Lives #24 Posted January 5, 2009 What really sucks is that Vintage used to be THE best place in town for this sort of thing. Now they have this corporate mindset, and it sucks. I don't think that Steve runs the Tulsa stores anymore, either. They sell used stuff sometimes for more than you can get it new, and NEVER check up on their prices (or care for that matter). I haven't bought anything from them in a long time because of this, actually. Chuck over on 41st is pretty cool, though. He sold me a bunch of Genny and Atari games for literally pennies at the last convention.
shadow460 #25 Posted January 6, 2009 I wonder if Samantha from 19th street in Moore goes to those conventions? She's the "Atari go to person" for VS here in the OKC area. To be honest, she's probably the only one who even cares about Atari stuff. That store has a Saturn Bomberman loose for $35. Samantha didn't price it, either--it was there when she transferred in. I should go make an offer on it and see if she wants it out of the way. Some other games are priced way off in there. Some are high, most are a little low, though. There are lots of Game Boy and Game Gear titles that should cost more. Take Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine for example. My price from a seller here was $15, which is good. My price at VS was $4, which was a steal, and I wanted a second copy for gear to gear link games. Perfect Dark goes for $9, IMO it's a $15 game (we're talking Game Boy, not N64). 2600 Star Raiders could go for $15 CIB. Then you look around and see R4 and R5 games going for $2. I just don't get it. And then there are games that they don't even have listed. I asked for the Game of Harmony a couple of weeks back, and it's not in their computers. I should take my copy over there so they can put it in their list...although I'm not planning to sell it.
