ddaniels #1 Posted January 10, 2009 I think these were the best thing to come along if your into the old video games and can't afford to collect every game. I own the Powerpak for the Nes and Cuttle cart 3 for the Intv. I realize up front they are expensive but are well worth it in the end. Once I discovered and purchased these flash carts it made me head to Ebay and buy an Intellivision/Atari 2600 (in hopes of a flash cart) and a Nes. I realize that a true collector who wants to own every physical game may not not find this appealing but I can't think of anything better to complement the older consoles. I was tickled when emulation came along and you could play those roms on a PC. Alhough it was cool to do that it just didn't feel right on a PC in my opinion. It helped when years later you could use the real console controllers on a PC thanks to people designing usb adapters but still it was an emulator on a PC. Now fast forward and you can buy a flash cart, that is what has gotten me back into the old consoles. If someone would have told me back in the early 80's that 25 years from now you will be able to play just about every game (not all games work 100%) on one cart for either a Nes or Intv I wouldn't have believed it. What do you guys think? Do you like the concept?
Wickeycolumbus #2 Posted January 10, 2009 I love flash carts, they are great for developing on real hardware. Plus they allow me to play games I could never afford!

roland p #4 Posted January 10, 2009 For my atari 800xl, I really prefer my old cartridges. Nothing can match the expirience of plugging in one of those magical cartridges, turn the atari on, and play the game! As a kid, I dreamt about transferring all my cassette games to cartidges... A Sprite #5 Posted January 10, 2009 (edited) My entire collection in a single cart? It's black magic. I have a portable system that's truly portable. Edited January 10, 2009 by A Sprite
ls650 #6 Posted January 10, 2009 Flash carts are great, both for developing and for allowing gamers to play games that they might otherwise never have a chance to try.
Reaperman #7 Posted January 10, 2009 I love it. Lets me keep my game collection NIB and play them on real hardware--often allowing me to haul every game I have for a system around at once. What's not to like?
phaxda #8 Posted January 10, 2009 Love mine. I have the Crok for 2600, Cuttle Cart 2 for the 7800, Cuttle Cart 3 for the Intellivision, Sean Kelley's Vectrex multicart, and a PowerPak for the NES. I plan to get the Coleco and 5200 Flash carts as soon as it's economically feasible for me to do so... need to sell some stuff first. I still use carts for my 800, but one of these days I will go SIO2something.
Gregory DG #9 Posted January 11, 2009 I love my CC2 and R4DS... I can't imagine anyone who owns one who wouldn't love it.
rpgfaker #10 Posted January 11, 2009 Sure I totally support it..nothing like playing all your favorite systems on a certain sony handheld.
darthkur #11 Posted January 11, 2009 Flash Carts are a beautiful thing. I've got one for the CV, 5200, Vectrex and the VB one on the way. I still much prefer to use the original media but that's not economically feasible for some things and just about impossible for the super rare items. So they are a great resource to have. I would like to get one for every classic system I own and for a couple of not so classic ones too. It's nice to see them available for a lot of them but someone really needs to make one for the 2600/7800 now that the CC2's are scarcer than hen's teeth. Royalshin #12 Posted January 11, 2009 (edited) Well copy devices have been around for a long time but it is not the greatest. Yes it feels good to play and not pay but when I get a chance I do buy games. I have been buying more games then downloading over the years. The only thing I downloaded in any years is games like Word Muncher or Doom 3D. I also like to use the game disc/cart like background music. ovalbugmann #13 Posted January 11, 2009 I think flashcarts are really great! I wish I would have been able to get a CC1 or CC2 or Krokocart. I'm waiting for the "Chimera" to come out!!! I'm pretty sure it's for the 2600 but maybe it will do 7800 to IDK? Right now I use a modded SuperCharger for the 2600, but it can only play up to 4KB games I believe, that are not SC games. It has 6KBs of RAM in it, and probably the original SC games use it all. I have nothing for the 7800, except 28 actual game carts. I don't own a 5200. I'm waiting for the Atari Jaguar Skunkboard vers.2 to be ready to ship soon , it has 8MB of RAM and a uploading feature.
ls650 #14 Posted January 11, 2009 Sure I totally support it..nothing like playing all your favorite systems on a certain sony handheld. We're not talking about playing ROMs on an emulator, but playing ROMs on the actual console with devices such as the Cuttle Cart - quite a different thing. warmachine #16 Posted January 11, 2009 Flash carts are great for classic systems that are no longer supported, but are the devil for modern systems like the gba and the ds. It's never been so easy to steal games for a modern system and the console manufacturers know this and are actively trying to prevent it. It's no wonder that game companies are abandoning phisical media and are actively trying to force a pay for play model upon us.

WIZZARD77 #24 Posted January 13, 2009 Try TOTOTEK's website they sell Genesis, TG-16, Game Gear, Master System and SNES flashcarts. I have 2 of the Genesis ones and they rock. They have multirom support, region fixing, and save support. The only drawback is you need to have a parrallel printer port to flash the card.

Can someone tell me why a place like Tototek hasn't developed a Atari 2600 flash cart or anyone for that matter? I have heard about the Chimera project but I can't believe what prices the original Cuttle carts for the Atari are going for when they do come up for sale. I realize their a one of a kind item but at $400 you think someone would want to step in and make one for the Atari. I recently emailed Schell's Electronics and he has no plans for selling Cuttle carts. If I were him and saw what their currently selling for I'd be devoting my entire life in trying to sell those.
