How do you feel about flash carts?

Recommended Posts

If I were him and saw what their currently selling for I'd be devoting my entire life in trying to sell those.

He actually had to cut prices on the last batch he ran to sell the last ones... That, parts issues and the fact that it's not feasible to just make a few at a time are some reasons he isn't doing it.

Exactly: just because the occasional fan is desperate enough to pay $400 once in a while, that doesn't mean that a production run of 100 (or whatever) carts will sell anywhere near that high.

I'm curious, what did these originally sell for? How much did he cut prices on the last batch?

Not sure about the CC2's original selling price but the Krokodile Cart originally went for $100.00 apiece. I missed the last ones by one day! :( I have a modded Supercharger though :D, It's cool but it can only load up to 4 kilobyte games on it. I'm very much looking forward to the 2600's final solution of: The Chimera!

$200 was the original run price. Here is the thread where a bunch of people were soliciting various cut rate prices. The ultimate discount for the second (and last run) carts available was $150 a piece. It's unfortunate that the scale of economy and production don't work out where everyone who would want one could eventually get one, as it's one of the absolute greatest Atari related things ever produced.

I think unfortuately the Chimera project isn't going to happen from this thread that I found http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...p;#entry1659056

I'm not a techie guy but if you read through it all it looks like someone else is continuing this project and calling it "Harmony". I don't quite understand what all it will be able to do. Perhaps someone else could better explain this new project.

Try TOTOTEK's website they sell Genesis, TG-16, Game Gear, Master System and SNES flashcarts. I have 2 of the Genesis ones and they rock. They have multirom support, region fixing, and save support. The only drawback is you need to have a parrallel printer port to flash the card.

I just ordered the Genesis flash cart from Tototek today. I realize I'll need two cables to do the transfer one being a USB cable. What is the other cable I'll need? A 25pin male to 25pin male on both sides? Is this known as an Lpt1 cable? Please help!!!

Why don't someone just make a Flash Cart with a SD slot..

So you could have alot of Games on a 1 GB Card

Love them. :) I've got a flash solution for the 2600/7800 (CC2), the 5200 (Atarimax 128 in 1 flash/USB), Atari 800 (SIO2SD), and Jaguar (The Flash Card.) Want to get a Lynx solution, maybe ST just for completeness.

I like them because new roms are made, or for the High Score Clubs... fire up the flash solutions and play along with everyone else. With the Atari community to play along with, I might not care except for continued BBs'ing on the Atari 800 and Bubsy on the Jaguar. Everything else would be pointless.
