HD query

Recommended Posts

I recently aquired an Apple Mac Plus it came with a HDD

a GCC UltraDrive 20 (20mbs :P)

I was wondering, since the ST & the MAC both used the 68k

and both use SCSI drives, is there ANY WAY possible, that I

can use this mac hdd on my ST.

please someone say yes? (truthfully :P)

there HAS to be a way!

as long as the hdd is scsi you can use it on an st.. it doesn't matter what it is from.. you just need the relivant card and cable.

and drivers :)

it is possible

I am going to need a MEGA to use it.

No, I had a 520 STFM with a 240 Meg SCSI HDD. I used to run my BBS off it. You need a DMA to SCSI adaptor card. I have a GeLogic one, ICD were a very reputable make for them. and you also need the HDD driver (for the card) and a DMA cable (Easy enough to build. and I think I could supply you with a driver possibly).

you should have no probs running the HDD, as long as you have the right bits.

First of all, please do NOT buy anything from ICD! They like to take money from their customers and not send anything in return. :x Just ask any Atari Jaguar owner who "preordered" a Catbox.

As for the HD host adapter, I recommend WB Systemtecnik's Link 97. It supports the latest SCSI protocols including SCSI arbitration which is needed for multitasking and ethernet support. Best Electronics in California sells them for not too much if I recall. Let me check...ah, it's only US$90. Well worth the price!

still, thats too much for Jess here, so he will just have to keep watch for

an actual ST harddrive
