Giant Atari Joystick Lamp

Recommended Posts

atarilamp.jpgInstructables member seamster has built a Giant Atari Joystick Lamp from scratch as his entry into a $20,000 contest being held on the site. The lamp base is modeled after a classic Atari 2600 CX-40 joystick and the lampshade is adorned with box artwork from a variety of 2600 games. The joystick fire button is used to turn the lamp on and off and the power cord exits the joystick where you'd expect. After looking at the pictures, you'll see that the attention to detail is remarkable and that the lamp very much resembles an original CX-40 stick scaled up in size. You can view the complete step-by-step process of how the lamp was created here.

That would go nice set alongside a giant VCS-shaped sofa

I like that idea, it's about the right shape! :D

I want two of them that also work as joysticks :) great way to play head to head entombed :)

I was wondering if someone was going to ask if the joysticks are functional. :D

Quite cool indeed, though I do think that the shade is too small for the base (or the other way around). :ponder:

Cheers,

Looks like something that could appear in a 1980s-based sequel to A Christmas Story.
Drat, beat me too it!

Very cool! Thanks for posting the link.

The best part is, looking through that guys pictures and the tools he used, I have the exact same hammer in my garage so maybe I could make one too!!

That is really ingenious. I love it! (LOL at the Christmas Story references)

How about a paddle for a dimmer switch? :ponder:
