Parrothead #1 Posted January 16, 2009 Many of you are aware that after a successful 10-year run, Shane R. Monroe has ended his podcast RetroGamingRadio.com. This has left a hole in the classic gaming hearts in many of us, me included. So in the spirit of RetroGamingRadio I would like to make a formal announcement introducing our new podcast. We would like to introduce you all to a new retrogaming podcast that will be getting underway this February. Scott Schreiber (aka Subarubrat), Mike James (aka Miner2049er) and myself are going to be starting a new retrogaming podcast aptly called RetroGamingRoundup. We are dedicated to producing a monthly show focused on and around classic video gaming. Episodes will include classic gaming editorials, gaming guru interviews, monthly top-10 lists, technical Q & A, Scott’s familiar Hardware Flashback, I go undercover and give you Swap Meet LIVE!, gaming reviews, user submitted news and questions and lots more. You can listen to our Premier Episode sometime in February 09’. In preparation of our podcast, we have started a simple website, which you can find at http://www.RetroGamingRoundup.com. Please visit our site and get familiar with it as we hope you make this a permanent destination while surfing the net. In addition, please help us spread the word of what we believe will be the definitive retrogaming podcast anywhere. Also, we will be sharing forum space with ChaseTheChuckwagon.com. The RetroGamingRoundup Forums are now active and sitting towards the bottom of the forum page. Please visit our forums, register if you haven’t already and let’s start discussing retrogaming once again. Direct link: http://www.chasingthechuckwagon.com/upload/index.php One final mention. If you run across any interesting retrogaming news or web sites or have hardware oriented technical questions please email this information to us at [email protected] / [email protected] This information will be discussed in our monthly episodes. I hope to see some new faces in our forums and the three of us look forward to delivering you quality retrogaming content each and every month. We thank you, So Cal Mike Subarubrat Miner2049er http://www.RetroGamingRoundup.com The Center of Your RetroGaming Universe!
S1500 #2 Posted January 16, 2009 Sounds good. I highly recommend reading the "gaming related podcasts?" topic I made a short while back. Plenty of sage advice there. What we need is another Twitch Asylum, and not another Retrocore.
RJ #3 Posted January 16, 2009 (edited) REALLY looking forward to this! While Shane's podcasts...er, MEDIAcasts were always take it or leave it for me (& FAR too long-winded), one more quality podcast wont hurt. There's a thread here started by member S1500 w/ some guidelines that listeners prefer. EDIT- Wow, he snuck that in while I was typing mine!!! S1500 #4 Posted January 16, 2009 EDIT- Wow, he snuck that in while I was typing mine!!! It's because I have the "Silent Running" perk. Now the question is when's the Gridcycle gang podcast coming to reality?
ComputerSpaceFan #5 Posted January 16, 2009 FAR too long-winded I'll be glad to see a new podcast fill Shane's shoes. I quite miss RGR. I would like to request that the new podcast try to cut down the length from three hours to something a little more concise though. Will it be available to subscribe to in iTunes? Hey There CSF - Our shows will run as long as they need to run with the content we get for the month. Don't worry about us running out of monthly content and missing shows, though, won't happen. Longer shows can be stopped and listened to later throughout a month and I think most listeners will like that. Most shows will probably be in the 2-3 hour range. We have lots planned And some of our segments will be recorded individually, while others will feature all of us together (Top 10-Lists, News, etc.) Here is what's on deck for show #1 - Host Intros - Who we are, what gaming means to us, and why are we here? - Interview - Mr. Phil Adam, Co-Founder of Spectrum Holobyte, President of Interplay. Brought Tetris to US Shores. - LIVE! Go with So Cal Mike to the SuperAuctions Arcade Auction in Compton, CA (Jan09) - Review - Grand Prix Legends (PC) - Review - Atari's Ipod App - Missile Command - Top-10 List (TBD) - RetroGaming News (TBD) And yes, they will be on Itunes as well as our own website. Enjoy ! Edited January 16, 2009 by Parrothead

S1500 #10 Posted January 17, 2009 FAR too long-winded I'll be glad to see a new podcast fill Shane's shoes. I quite miss RGR. Indeed. 3 hours is overkill. IMO, 1 hour is perfect. If you have 3 hours, you can space 'er out to three episodes. Definitely an RSS feed for EZ Itunes sub. S1500 #18 Posted February 13, 2009 Allow me some constructive criticism: 5 and a half hours is much too long for a podcast. I would have split it up into 3 episodes or the like.
