Portals

Has anyone beaten Portals? I bought it the other day after playing the demo. I don't normally like "Valve/Steam" type games, but this one was kind of fun since it was puzzle-like.

 

I think I'm stick at like level 10 or 13 or some crap. I don't wanna ask for help, but at the same time I kind of do.

 

It's a level where there's green liquid all over the floor.

 

Good game so far. I like the accomplishment of thinking something through to get past the level.

I played Portal on the Orange Box.

I think the Live version has like 13 bonus screens. I might have bought the game if it had been $5 just to get the bonus screens but no more. I will say the game kicks much ass. I loved it. Simplicity at it's finest.

I don't remember the screen exactly you are talking about, but I do remember I made it to level 15 without a hint.

At level 15 I got stuck bad. I just went to You Tube and typed in the name of the level. You can find walk=through for ones you get stuck on. Just watch enough to get past where you are at.

I actually got past the level I was stuck on. It's funny how something seems to hard, then you come back later and pretty much breeze through it.

 

After that I cleared 3 or 4 levels and finally left for bed. Damn good game.

 

The challenging stages are tough! I don't think I even passed the first one yet.

Man, Portals is better than I originally thought. I've cleared a few more levels last night and they're nice brain teasers. They're getting larger it seems and takes longer to complete. Have more parts to them.

i beat the game back when i bought Orange Box.

Same here - I've beaten all of the "hard" levels (originally just the Orange Box ones, but I picked up Portal: Still Alive when it came out on XBL as well) - it's amazing how hard some levels can seem while others are so easy. I can remember getting pretty well stumped on one, then completely breezing through the next! I guess while we may learn to think with Portals, we don't all think the same way!

I'm on Chapter 10 or 11 and am totally stuck. It's the one with the wide open room dropping down kills you in green murky stuff, there's those laser robots all over. I knocked them all over. The thing in the middle shoots out balls, which you have to get somewhere. I can't get up there to press the button. Very rarely do I get it and it only stays open for like 3-4 seconds before it closes.

I am a huge fan of this game. I love playing the song on Rock Band, it's DLC. I'd like to return to it but my attention has moved on to the next big thing.

I can't get past level 14 (or maybe 15) the one where you jump into the portal and come flying out an up and have to land in a down the next level up (because you come out upside down, there's no real way for me to have time to both find my orientation and guide my fall (or rise) to the next portal)

 

Other than that level, which will probably remain unbeatable for me, the game was really cool.
