Mirage #26 Posted January 20, 2009 Just around the time Nintendo and the rest of the Jackie Chan Gang showed up Are you racist or just stupid? He's someone who was already banned from here once (and other places too) who's come back with one of his known alternate handles. http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...t&p=1339647 Don't waste your time. Wow, that's enlightening. I was wondering about that guy. Actually, I stopped wondering about him when I put him on ignore. Couldn't tolerate any more of that incoherent and incorrect nonsense. Yeah, I'm starting to lean that way myself. I can tolerate a good deal of gibberish and incoherence, but racist remarks cross the line for me.

I can't understand how any normal person would go on for this length of time with such an "act" just to purposely offend others.

carmel_andrews #31 Posted January 20, 2009 I am still annoyed they didn't include all A8 sales, i am sure they continued selling A8 long after 1984 A8 includes those atari computers other then the 400/

I got an 800xl in about '85 and I remember seeing piles of them in various places around Minneapolis for at least a year after that, probably longer. The 130XE was introduced in '85 if I remember right. It was around for a couple years but I'm pretty sure Atari bailed on the 8 bits at that point. <edit> One site says 1991 was the end date for the 130 & 65 XEs but I think production stopped earlier than that. Yes, the one I got in '85 was on clearance as were all the XL's I remember after that. They just had them in big huge piles everywhere, K-Mart, liquidations stores, everywhere. I never remember even seeing an XE in person when they were new, clearance or otherwise. A lot of stores probably didn't want to carry them due to there being stacks of unsold XL's everywhere (that's pure speculation on my part). So, should a list of sales like this only include full-price retail, or even sales once they go on clearance/liquidation? If it includes liquidation, XL's were sold through '85 and '86 at least. carmel_andrews #35 Posted January 21, 2009 (edited) officially i think it was either 1990 or 1991...I remember getting a reply to a letter i sent to Atari's main UK distributor (sillica shop) from their MD (or CEO to you peeps) and in the letter, which was i recall 1990, the reply definately stated that Atari were stopping A8 and 2600/7800 production shortly Edited January 21, 2009 by carmel_andrews
JamesD #36 Posted January 21, 2009 Maybe production continued longer for Europe than he US because they disappeared from the shelves where I was at least two years before that.
carmel_andrews #37 Posted January 22, 2009 (edited) Another interesting omission was the apple IIgs (the only computer released to using the 16 bit upgrade of the 6502) and also the cbm 128 (which was like 3 computers in 1 (c64 mode, c128 mode and z80/cpm mode) Edited January 22, 2009 by carmel_andrews
