And she sews fun things: unusual things --- for her kid. And it's much more than just sewing. She has the talent to identify the component parts that had to be constructed, she had to figure out how to crochet each of those parts, source the pre-made components, assemble the parts, a slight bit of embroidery, etc. I think the title of the posting is appropriate.
