paladoris #1 Posted September 12, 2002 Hi everyone. I'm hooking up my old system and I'm missing the RCA. I've tried hooking up with a standard red/yellow/white cable trio, none of them work. The plug seems to fit, but when I switch it on, there's a black screen and frying. Please help! What kind of cable do I need? I'm hooking up via coax using an A/B switch. The cable seems to be my only stumbling block thus far. Thanks a lot, Brandi~:-)
Hackmann #2 Posted September 12, 2002 Any RCA cable will do; there's no difference between the audio and video ones besides the colors on the plugs. Note that it's not really an RCA connection: you will need a switchbox or the Radio Shack converter instead of hooking the RCA cable into the video in on your TV/VCR. (You can use an RCA cable because it uses the same *plugs*, but it's not sending an RCA signal.) Also, have you checked to make sure your 2600 and TV are both NTSC or both PAL? B&W and rolling video is a common symptom of mixing the two video types. NTSC is the American standard and PAL is the European standard, so as long as you have both a domestic TV and a domestic 2600 you should be fine.
