OT: Frequency Scanner/Sweeper, anybody know anything about them?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Here's what I am trying to do:

My car has a tire pressure monitoring system. It uses small RF transmitters in each tire to "tell" the car when a tire goes flat. I will be using the car in a slightly different way than intended and intend to remove these. At 125 bucks each, I really don't want to replace them when the sealed battery goes kaputz in them anyway.

Basically, I want to find out what frequency each one is generating, then fool my car into thinking they are still there. If I have a frequency, maybe I can build/buy something that will replicate those 4 signals about once a minute while the car is on. That would be enough to make the car happy.

Any ideas where to start? I had thought once I know the frequencies, I could get a Mr. Microphone from Walmart and hack it up. I am certainly not opposed to suggestions along those lines, nor am I against "creative" uses of other things.

Thanks in advance,

Cassidy
