Cheapest decent pinball machine?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I'm looking for a cheap pinball machine for my game room. I would like to know what is a good price for a decent machine (fun factor not condition) that you could buy.

You can probably get a completely working pin. for around $400. It will most likely be a early to mid eighties model though. But, alas, there were many good ones in that era. I bought my Meteor for $500, My Gorgar for $350, and my Centaur for $500. So you can definitely get one in the $400 range. If you want early to mid nineties the cost does go up quite a bit. Most likely in the $1000- $1500 range, and year 2000 and newer expect to pay anywhere from $1500 to $6000 depending on the pin.

I have a few for sale cheap if you are interested. Hopefully you live near Oregon as shipping costs are pretty expensive.

I see a lot of good 80's, early 90's stuff for under $1000, sometimes around $500! If you don't mind going way back in time you can find the old EM style pins for a few hundred bucks!! Not my style at all though, I must have digital score boards, that is the rule in my gameroom ;)

EM style for a few hundred bucks, buy it if you see it. 100% working mechanicals are usually in the $500 plus range. The four I have were $400 or more. My Padduck 90% working was $1200 . The EM's were and are the most reliable in my opinion. Once you get 'em right they play forever w/o messing with them.I do have to admit they are boring compared to the newer pins., but they are reliable and fun in an old school way.

Thanks but I'm all the way out on Long Island. What do you think my chances of getting one at a garage sale are?

I have never personally seen one for sale at a garage sale, but there is always a chance. Try Craigslist. Might help and good luck to you.

Craiglist has crap. A bunch of broken machines and wanted ads. I actually saw one last year at a garage sale for $200 but it was missing a power supply and a glass cover. I believe it was the Adams Family.

I just happen to know where you can get pins in the area.

US Amusements runs auctions in Cherry Hill, NJ. You just missed the December 2008 show. Things go pretty cheap.

Here's a list of some stuff that went in June or July auction:

Freddy Nightmare on Elm Street $750

Harlem Globetrotters $215

Indiana Jones $2,500

Judge Dredd $575

Lethal Weapon 3 $475

No Good Golfers $1,450

Police Force $260

Police Force $425

Revenge From Mars (not working) $900

Stargate $500

Teed Off $550

Wipe Out $525

Wipe Out $650

Some stuff (arcades) are as cheap as $10! They usually have lots of parts and touch screen games too.

Arg! For $200 an Adams Family cabinet is a steal, even with no guts.

Yeah, for the amount of space required they are just not my style, too old. I see quite a few around here at $300 or bo, I passed on one for $150 last summer. I need digital score, thats all I ask for - lol

Usually the smaller communities have them, old churches, bars, pinball fans, etc.. would be a little bit of a drive but just not worth it for me :)
