godslabrat #4 Posted January 25, 2009 Oughta let it go open source. Would be great if they did that with Space Simulator.
Albert #5 Posted January 25, 2009 This is a pretty big blow for the huge Microsoft Flight Simulator community that lives around this franchise. Many people actually make money creating mods, custom airplane skins, models, and so forth for Flight Simulator. Microsoft also had related projects that appear to be dead, such as Train Simulator 2 that was due soon, and as well as Microsoft ESP, an expensive visual simulation platform based on the FS engine. This was a 30+ year old product and I'm surprised Microsoft closed ACES. I would not be surprised if an open source flight simulator project gets off the ground (so to speak) or if X-Plane gains more traction as a result. ..Al
