Fort Apocalypse #1 Posted January 27, 2009 (edited) Sega has come out with a neo-retro mock 8-bit title for the Wii (WiiWare) called Pole's Big Adventure that is a satire of 8-bit games (which finally answers the questions: "What if Mario had a gun?" and "Can Mario eat so many mushrooms that he gets bigger than the screen?", although it is Pole, not Mario). J.Max #2 Posted January 27, 2009 I've always thought it would have been a natural fit for Sega to use Sonic the Hedgehog to satirize videogames. Imagine a hyperviolent "Grand Theft Hedgehog" or "Resident Hedgehog".
darthkur #3 Posted January 27, 2009 Looks fun. I want it. I don't have a Wii though so that might make things a bit difficult.
MCHufnagel #4 Posted January 30, 2009 I've always thought it would have been a natural fit for Sega to use Sonic the Hedgehog to satirize videogames. Imagine a hyperviolent "Grand Theft Hedgehog" or "Resident Hedgehog". Well Sonic has become a satire of himself, so Sega's getting close.
johnny_boy #5 Posted January 31, 2009 Looks like a mix of Alex Kidd and Commander Keen, gameplay-wise. Not impressed with the graphic design choices. Retro doesn't have to mean bland and blocky - just look at Mega Man 9 or, even better, Cave Story. Maybe humour could rescue it at this point, to me, but even then, it'd simply be a one trick pony. I've seen better Rom hacks than this.
PressureCooker2600 #6 Posted January 31, 2009 I've seen better Rom hacks than this. I'm with johnny on this. That game looks like shit. Even the original Super Mario Bros. graphics were better.
