fdurso224 #26 Posted January 29, 2009 Hi guys, I've defeated Mike Tyson and Mr. Dream repeatedly through out the years. I studied the CPU's paterns so much, that I can beat them blindfolded. Unfortunately, I wish I can say the same for Mr. Sandman. He's a real Motherf--ker at times. Anthony....
A2600 #27 Posted January 29, 2009 Hi guys, I have a Mike Tyson's Punch-out display sign in mint condition. Any idea what's that with? Anthony..... YOU have a picture of the display sign?
Silverfleet #28 Posted January 29, 2009 I have always been a big fan of Mike Tyson's Punch Out for the NES. I let a friend borrow it back in the day and never got it back. I recently replaced it with the later Mr. Dream Punchout. I actually played the arcade game for the first time last weekend! It's definitely a good game. I don't have much experience with the SNES one, but seeing this thread reminds me that I need to pick that up.

Hi, I'll let my brother take out his camera and take a picture of it. It should be on a day or two. I don't have the modern conveniences of what my bro has. Any idea of a price? Anthony.... Major_Havoc #30 Posted January 29, 2009 I remember it as NES's Mike Tyson's Punch Out,fantastic game.Anyone defeated Tyson?Mike Tyson, was left out of the next production of punch out due to legal issues, the rape charge, IIRC.The ones with his name on the box should be worth a bundle shouldn't they? Nah.. far too common since everyone and their brother had Mike Tyson's Punchout. I actually think the Mr. Dream one is a little rarer. But yeah of course I love PunchOut. I can beat the NES/SNES ones with ease and was always a fan of the arcade version even before the NES one was out. I sucked at it though since it took money to practice it

+Cafeman #32 Posted January 29, 2009 I enjoyed the original coin-op version first. I've retroactively played the NES version in Animal Crossing , its a lot of fun. I never played the SNES one but it looks like a must-have for that system. Hope the Wii one is as fun as the NES one.

There you go,i have yet to hear about someone getting back whatever they borrowed out. When one lends something out, might as well bid it fair well, you'll NEVER see it AGAIN,never fails.Either that or its YOU that has to go out of your way and go over and get your stuff back, thats if its still in one piece.People irritate me. Back on topic, when I was a kid (maybe 2nd or 3rd grade) I would try to play punch out in the arcade but I couldn't even get past Glass Joe. Shameful. I am pretty good at the NES game now, but I have never beaten it. It is one of the few games I have for SNES but I have never spent a lot of time with it, although I liked what I saw. I think I will go home tonight and check it out some more. Chris
rpgfaker #36 Posted January 30, 2009 Speaking of Glass Joe I think my best time was a 49 second KO...it really shocked me because for years I only KO'ed him after he fell once usually at 1:29. The original NES Mike Tyson's Punch-out! was my favorite always loved Little Mac and at the time Mike Tyson was a monster dropping like 6 punches in one second. Super Punch-out was a great game but without Little Mac it wasn't as fun to watch. The arcade always made me laugh with the "body blow" "body blow" "upper cut"
zombiecraig #37 Posted January 30, 2009 The arcade always made me laugh with the "body blow" "body blow" "upper cut" "He's down for the count! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 GET UP! GET UP!" The audio in the arcade version is really one of it's most entertaining aspects. We used to walk around school saying "body blow" all the time.

Tyson wasn't even arrested for the rape until nearly a year after the Mr. Dream version of the game came out, so, judging by the timing, it was more likely losing his title to Buster Douglas and Nintendo not wanting to renew the contract when it ran out. (He lost the title in February 1990, Punch-Out!! with Mr. Dream came out in August 1990, the rape arrest was in July 1991, and the rape conviction in February 1992) ... but, yeah. The NES Punch-Out is my favorite, partially because it's the only one of the four that I can actually beat, so fun eventually gives way to frustration with the others. I never got the timing down for either of the arcade games, and I can get most of the way through the SNES game, but Hoy Quarlow (the old Chinese guy who beats you with a cane) always gets me. -DS- Edited January 30, 2009 by Raiu
phaxda #39 Posted January 30, 2009 You guys have read Little Mac's diary, right? http://www.x-entertainment.com/articles/0702/ Kinda funny, but fair warning: that site is kinda spammy with the ads.
Zap! #40 Posted January 30, 2009 I've been a huge fan since the original arcade in the mid 80's. Is anyone looking forward to the new Wii game? It's my most anticipated game of the year.

jrok #43 Posted January 31, 2009 I'm a big fan of the arcade game. I remember making it to the third loop one time, and getting KO'ed by Glass Joe. How humiliating.
7800Lover #44 Posted February 13, 2009 While I prefer the arcade and SNES Punch-Out, the NES Punch-Out had its good points. I like the boxers of Punch-Out like King Hippo, Don Flamenco, Piston Honda, Super Macho Man, etc. That blockhead Bald Bull though was quite tough. You had to hit him just at the right time with his bull charge. I remember having to fight both Honda and Flamenco a second time on the world circuit and they were much harder. In the end, I defeated them by decision.
CGQuarterly #45 Posted February 14, 2009 (edited) I just put up an article about the Punch-Out!! series on my website (which is new, and therefore basically empty at this point) if anyone is interested in reading it. muchomojo #46 Posted February 14, 2009 I absolutely love Mike Tyson's Punch Out, though I still haven't beat it. Super Punch Out is one of the games I've still not come across, but one day I'm sure I'll find a copy somewhere.

I have been playing that game since I was 11 years old, and I NEVER knew that you could do that! You would think that at some point I would have at least done it by accident! I just fired the game up and tried it for the first time. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I will edit the article accordingly. Chris
