PressureCooker2600
Possibly download incorrectly and make a game not load at all. I have my new Jasper unit and have been playing it fine for a week.....and I decided to play Orange Box. It had to download the update to it, again....so I let it......and now every time I go to play the game it freezes at the loading screen. I'm going to clear my cache and see if that does anything but right now I'm still kinda pissed. I'd like to restate my opinion that....despite having some of the best games ever.....the actual 360 hardware is the worst shit I've EVER had to deal with.....I'm constantly having some kind of trouble with it. I guess clearing the cache will tell you if it's a corrupt update. Let us know how it turned out.
FastRobPlus
Try w/o the hard drive to see if the game boots.

I had a similar problem with my Elite. I took my acct over to my older box (via memory card) and did the update there and it worked fine. I then went back to my Elite to get the update again and it worked. I don't get it. These boxes are behaving just like finicky PCs. One reason why I stuck to console gaming in the first place. BTW: My Elite is my 4th XBOX 360. The other one was fixed/replaced?) by MS 2 times due to RROD. I've never had so much bad luck with a game console and support (They sure could take lessons from Nintendo in this area). If I wasn't addicted to the games like a crack addict (I must admit, the ratio of good to crap games on the 360 seems to be better than most machines of the past), I'll tell MS to piss off forever. -Lee
Video
How do ou delete the systems memoy? I ended up updateing the thing to see if my friends x-box was messed up, or his internet (and you had to update to test the system) and I don't like the stupid new interface. No game I havve uses it anyways, and it's partly screwed up since you can't edit the stupid wee ne things looks. But I never would have updated even to test the connection if it wasn't for reading online that I could delete the system memory which should make all that crap go away. PressureCooker2600
After deleting the cache and getting the update again.....everything loaded up and played fine. Didn't play for long though, because Half-Life is one of those games that gets me motion-sick while I play it.
PressureCooker2600
To Video: To delete the cache in your memory....go to system settings, then your memory.....it should have you hit 'Y' for device options....after that....hit Y, X, X, LB, RB, X, X
moycon
Keep in mind after doing this you will have deleted ALL updates, that means when you plug any game in that required an update in the past, you will be prompted again to update it. (Pretty much every game) No big deal since it usually only take a few seconds to update.
PressureCooker2600
Another "interesting", yet frustrating, turn of events last night: I decided to play Fallout 3 last night. Since I had cleared the cache, it downloaded the update. Everything fine. Then I go to load my game and what happens while it's loading...........take a wild guess.......................it quietly freezes. After a few I decided to clear the cache again. I turn the game on again, download the update again, and then the game starts and plays fine. This is the second time in a row. Both times the games would quietly freeze on the loading screens. Both times, they were fixed by cleaning the cache and starting anew. Any ideas, guys? Will this constantly be a problem? Is it a fluke? moycon
I dont know that I've ever run into freezing on the loading screen. Not that I remember anyways.

Video
Cool, thanks. Hopefully, next time it won’t screw up- when I download it or update it or wherever it went wrong.
Video
Gah, well, I did the reset thing, and it first of all, resets the memory card or Hard drive, rather than the system (I tried without the card, it didn't even try) But eh, it said it reset and it's still screwed up, as near as I can tell, it didn't do anything. Oh well, as longa s I can still play it's OK I guess, Maybe I can reload the thing later or soemthing.f
