David Ward #1 Posted September 13, 2002 This game is truly outstanding! Thanks to Thomas Jentzsch for making this incredible game on the 2600. My highscore so far is around 70k, I know it sucks but I'll get better I promise. This is my first post. I hope to get to know all of you better. Oh yeah, Atariage is awesome. Have a nice day

Rob Mitchell #4 Posted September 13, 2002 Welcome! I showed Thrust at the last Cinciclassic .. and all the Atari fans were amazed! Great game with addiction that makes for great replay fun! Rob Mitchell, Atlanta, GA
ubersaurus #5 Posted September 13, 2002 I do indeed love thrust plus...had a bit of trouble at first making it fit in the 7800 (different cart size), but then I found out that I had to center the cart more, and now its good.
GrizzLee #6 Posted September 14, 2002 Are they finally shipping?!?!? I'm still waiting for my copy. The ones at CGE looked very cool.
David Ward #7 Posted September 14, 2002 I bought my copy from the atariage store. It wasn't one of the special numbered editions. By the way, I want to thank the guys at atariage the game was packaged well and received quickly. Y'all are a great asset to the Atari community. Thanks! Mayhem #8 Posted September 15, 2002 Got mine yesterday. Haven't had a chance to play yet (was out most of the day!) so will evaluate later... sucky import charges
Albert #9 Posted September 15, 2002 Got mine yesterday. Haven't had a chance to play yet (was out most of the day!) so will evaluate later... sucky import charges Just curious, how much did that end up costing you? ..Al
Mayhem #10 Posted September 15, 2002 Put it like this, the discount I got from you was more than covered by the import costs... which also included a nice "handling charge" from the postal service for doing all this for you All in all.. about $14 I'd said... //awaits comment about "what's $14 when you paid $180 charges for the Quadrun package!" Game cart works at least btw... though the spring load mechanism at the front is a bit suspect and it won't work properly when I insert the cart into my 7800. Have to manually trigger it before I can plug it in. I was gonna open it up and try and fix it, and then I remembered you put a screw in the middle under the label! Ah well... I'm enjoying it a lot more than at CGE, seems to control a lot better
CPUWIZ #11 Posted September 15, 2002 I have to agree, this game is outstanding and hats off to the man who designed the circuit board, he showed it to me in Al's room at CGE. It's nice to see people put some real effort into making quality products.

I'm enjoying it a lot more than at CGE, seems to control a lot better I had the same trouble, but essentially is that you have to try to center it, so that none of the sides touch the sides of the 7800 cart slot. It fits fine into my 2600s, but not the 7800, and that was the solution I came up with. Just line it up and slide it back and forth til it goes in ;p

StanJr #14 Posted August 30, 2009 This has been a long time coming (check the original posting date of this thread, yes?), but I finally ordered Thrust+. Now that I have played it, I feel qualified to weigh in. The game is good. Very good. But it is also hard. I suck a lot at Gravitar, and a lot of the fundamentals of Thrust+ are similar to those of Gravitar. Thus, I suck a lot at Thrust+ as well. This does not take away from the fact that the design of the game is brilliant. I've only managed to make it to level 6 on Rookie, so I really cannot speak to the depth of the game, but what I have seen is extremely impressive and I hope I can get deeper into it at some point. I will say that if you are like me and you suck at games of this ilk, start out playing on Rookie. Once you get really good at Rookie, then go back and try the normal difficulty. I spent about an hour trying to get past level 2 on the regular difficulty and got so fed up I was about to toss the game into the collection and decide it just wasn't for me. Then, I swallowed some pride, switched the game over to Rookie and gave it another go. By the end of the next hour I had reached, but not completed, level 6 on Rookie. I still haven't completed that level, but after a few more hours of practice I tried normal difficulty again and made it to level 4 pretty quickly. I think with more practice I will get good enough to play the game for real on normal difficulty. So my overall estimation of the game is that it is every bit as good as its hype, but don't get frustrated if you don't succeed early on, stick with it and the game will pay off in the long run! Thank you, Thomas, sorry it took me so long to add this gem to my collection (I now await Thrust + Double Platinum Edition... ) Stan
Thomas Jentzsch #15 Posted August 30, 2009 Thank you, Thomas, sorry it took me so long to add this gem to my collection Glad you like it. And yes, it is tough, but not unfair. It's all about practice, practice, practice. And practice! I hope you still find the time for a store review. (I now await Thrust + Double Platinum Edition... ) You mean Thrust++² Ultimate! So this homebrew stands the test of time. This is one of the games I have been wanting but have not bought yet. I have been thinking a five..six..now seven year old homebrew is probably missing something the current homebrews have. Thomas you must have programmed one hell of a game. Santa will be bringing this for me if it is still in the store.
StanJr #17 Posted August 31, 2009 Yeah, this is not to be missed. Homebrew technology has gotten much more fancy in the past 5 years, but Thrust+ was ahead of its time way back when, so it loses nothing with the time that has passed. Definitely worth having. Thomas, I'll try to get that store review done, once the store returns that is!

StanJr #19 Posted September 3, 2009 Made it to level 5 last night on normal difficulty!!! I might be getting the hang of this, someday. Very devious of you that I can shoot the stupid pod-thing once it has latched on to me!! Also learned that it is crucial to just float sometimes and let things work out, then thrust when needed. Very fun Thomas, thank you.
Albert #20 Posted September 3, 2009 Awesome, glad you to hear you are getting better. Yeah, it's a tough game, and like you said it's very similar to Gravitar (which is also a deviously tough game!) I used to own a Gravitar arcade game, so Thrust (in all its flavors) has long been one of my favorite 2600 homebrew games.. ..Al

I've got about 35 homebrews now, and Thrust+ Platinum was my first one. It's still one of the top two or three. Hard as hell though, but I like a challenge. I'm a big Gravitar fan too, so it's a natural fit. I'll post a review as well, once the store returns. This should be one everyone's list who doesn't have it. StanJr #22 Posted September 6, 2009 I made it to Mission 6 yesterday and scored over 30000pts.!! By the way, Thomas or others, is 5050 the highest possible score for Mission 1? As my abilities increase so does my enjoyment!

Yup. 750 for the shooting gun + 300 for picking up the fuel +2000 for the 1st planet +2000 bonus for destroying the planet --------------- =5050 total
Lord Thag #24 Posted September 7, 2009 Stan, you got me hooked on this all over again. You always start posting about some game, and then I read the post and start playing it. Dammit, your interfering with my Monster Hunter time! For the first time today, I got all the way to level 7 and the reverse gravity. It's pretty crazy. Of course, I only had one guy, and the little ground base insta-killed me, so I don't actually know what the reverse gravity is LIKE I seem to recall the levels go invisible after you beat the reverse gravity ones. My goal is to make it to them before vacation. We'll see!
StanJr #25 Posted September 7, 2009 Ha! Glad to be of service, Lord Thag! This game is pretty addictive, although I start getting impatient with the early levels after a while and tend to let the frustration mount until I am ready to toss the game out the window if I die before Mission 3. That said, I am improving by leaps and bounds! Maybe some day I too will break the reverse gravity barrier!
