Retro Rogue #1 Posted February 1, 2009 I could swear those are sounds from the tractor beam in Galaga in her song "All the Single Ladies": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5qx-MVrXfk (And yes, that's the Saturday Night Live parody of her music video, thought it was funny as hell). Chickybaby #2 Posted February 1, 2009 Dang you, I hate that song. I do however love Galaga and am going to go play the 7800 version asap and will horrifically look up her version of that song to compare. Dang you again, you had me crying when I saw the song yet when I saw Galaga I couldn't say no. ps - Just one question that I am almost afraid to ask. Why were you listening to that song. It's difficult for me to tell although I doubt it so I am going to go play more Galaga.
Kripto #3 Posted February 1, 2009 I don't know about this, but my sister's Samsung flatscreen plays the opening melody from Galaxian EXACTLY when it's powered up. What's up with that?
Red 5 #4 Posted February 1, 2009 I don't know about this, but my sister's Samsung flatscreen plays the opening melody from Galaxian EXACTLY when it's powered up. What's up with that? I have a Samsung flatscreen and it plays the sound of putting a quarter in Galaga when you turn it on. When I turned it on for the first time I almost passed out from joy. I am a huge Galaga fan and have the arcade cabinet in my basement. I have no idea what it's all about, but I love it!

So I was looking for it, heard the song and literally hear samples from Galaga burried in there (not sound alikes like what people are talking about with their Samsung's). Literally from that get go, those siren sounding swirls in the background sound like 1 to 2 second clips of the beginning of the Galaga tractor beam sound. And I'm talking about the arcade version, not 7800. Edited February 2, 2009 by wgungfu
Lendorien #6 Posted February 2, 2009 (edited) I don't know. I found a clip of the Arcade Galaga (Done on Mame) on Youtube and compared it to Single Ladies. It doesn't sound alike to me at all. There are a few other sound effects that may sound similar, but I'm not sure there's really a connection. Course, it could be a Mame difference over the physical unit too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pu5d87ZhesY - Galaga tractor beam 0:34 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h90hXYXSz0U - Single Ladies Edited February 2, 2009 by Lendorien
