jermandaim #5 Posted February 3, 2009 (edited) Currently have hooked up Playstation Dreamcast PS2 SNES NES Xbox 360 Controls are stored in a ottoman next to the entertainment center. New TV is needed soon however Here are some other pics of the room (cleaned for the sake of the pictures). My wife designed just about everything (the Mario thing to the left of the TV is modeled after a Mario wedding cake picture she saw online). All of our games are in the closet on shelves to keep down clutter as the room is pretty small. Edited February 3, 2009 by jermandaim
Mirage #6 Posted February 3, 2009 It's not much to look at right now, because we're still in an apartment while we continue to look for the right house for us. So, there's no point in decorating or getting all fancy, but here is my room right now. My wife is super-thrilled that I'm taking up an entire room with my stuff, but she's extremely understanding about it. I have a lot more crammed into closets and stuff but this is what I've got out right now... the essentials! Most of the consoles and computers are about in the center of the pic standing on their backs (2nd bookshelf from left, 2nd and 3rd shelves from top). Those are all the ones I want to keep handy, and I can hook them up to the 1702 in the second pic in just a few minutess. All the power supplies etc are organized in milk crates (not shown) for easy access. And all the controllers are organized in the blue milk crates in the foregrounds. They're all ready to go at a moment's notice. All the 2600 boxes and manuals are on the far right bookshelf. The second pic is where I hook it up to play. The 2600 is connected all the time, sitting on top of the 1702 now. (The Mac is a file server, not my main computer). The 7 plastic drawers contain most of my carts (mostly 2600), but they're overflowing, I need a couple more soon.

Stan #8 Posted February 3, 2009 I'll show you guys my set up in a few weeks. I have all my NES and Master System stuff stored in a giant, antique chinese cabinet. I'm currently purchasing another that has a set of awesome drawers that are perfect for game storage, a huge space for a television at just the right height and a ton of extra space for game stuff. I'll post pictures of the set up once I get it here and get everything organized. I tell you what, if you're looking for a great way to store games, that's the way to go. Chinese antiques tend to be quite cheap in comparison to even modern furniture AND they're incredibly sturdy. Old world wood is the way to go, you can hit these things with a train and they won't have a scratch on them. Here's an example of one. You can move those drawers on each level and put a TV right in there. The drawers have SICK space. The one I'm getting, however, has a series of eight smaller drawers, each about the size of the width of two CDs. Packing those babies FULL of stuff. Some have really fancy designs, but a number of them, especially from South China, were done in the so-called 'Euro' style and have a very simple look to them, so you don't have to be worried about them not matching anything. Lots of neutral colors too. Anyway, here are pics of one, closed and open.

Stan #10 Posted February 3, 2009 (edited) There are actually a few companies in China that make them now out of old wood salvaged from ancient storerooms and stuff that they acquired. If you know where to look they're pretty nifty and relatively cheap. Even older ones can be found for pretty cheap. The one I have my NES and SMS stuff stored in only cost me $300 with shipping to my house (including bringing it in the house and setting it up). darthkur #11 Posted February 6, 2009 Here's a select few pics from around the house, since I have no "console/gaming area" because the addictive collection is spread out everywhere. Bally Home Library, Tandy CoCo 2 and Atari Lynx. Tomy Tutor, Sony MSX2+ (inside case), Sharp Famicom Twin and PC Engine Duo. Emerson Arcadia 2001 (actually the Canadian made Leisure-Vision model), Sega Master System, Atari 7800 and Jaguar Vectrex, Virtual Boy, Atari 800 and stuff. To see the entire lot, so far, go to the Gallery here on AA that I just started: Game House

shadow460 #13 Posted February 7, 2009 I don't have a set area, either. I've got stuff crammed into storage areas all over the place. Currently I have the following ready to play in one area: Atari VCS Atari 5200 Atari 7800 Saturn Dreamcast N64 PS2 Two other systems are hooked to my wife's TV: PS1 NES There are portables scattered everywhere... I've got a number of Game Boys and Game Gears, a DS, and two PSPs. Both PSPs get used daily, the DS collects dust.
futuramaooy #14 Posted February 8, 2009 Just got done reorganizing, the TV is to the right. Yes I know the bottom 2 is a mess of cords The shelf was a thing we got from IKEA. I have a Mega Drive II and a broken Mega CD tucked away somewhere else.

I got it with my Amiga bundle, but since I never use the amiga anymore, I use it for my Colecovision Expansion Module to play atari games. I guess it's a generic 9-pin joystick, really. Emehr #18 Posted February 9, 2009 Here's my basement corner of doom. I still need to figure out some better shelves for my classic systems. Those crappy white particle board jobbies are temporary (my consoles deserve better! lol). The games sit on my homemade modular shelves. As you can see with the Wii and Master System games on top, I need to make more! My portable systems and AtariAge homebrews sit inside the red footlocker. Stan #20 Posted February 9, 2009 Looks nice, guys. My cabinet is being shipped from Taiwan this week. Once it comes (probably by next Thursday, the 19th), I'll set everything up and take a picture. For now, here it is, a not-so-high-quality picture, open so you can see what the beast looks like. Those drawers have some awesome storage potential. tisaperfectdayelise #21 Posted February 9, 2009 I took these from the couch...I either sit there or right in front of the tele. Under the TV, you'll see a Genesis (I just recently detached the 32x and CD and put them into storage, as I don't play them often, and I was running out of outlets), a Dreamcast, and a 7800. I recently retired my 2600 to storage, because of similar space constraints (and the 7800's backwards compatibility). In the stereo rack, you'll find an SMS, an NES, and a Playstation.....I've got a few more things in storage, but I have really small apartment, and only have room to have a few of these hooked up at a time.
