Stan #51 Posted February 16, 2009 Yeah, I'm really happy with this beast. They're actually quite easy to acquire. You can find them for relatively cheap on eBay at the moment, even shipped from China or Taiwan. I had to bring this one in the house myself, which was a pain because it weighs like 240 pounds, but it was worth the slight discount. I have another one with my entire NES and SMS collection in it (which consists of nearly every single NES release (most loose, other than rare games) and EVERY SMS release including a few variants, a complete Japanese set and some really rare stuff. It ALL fits in one cabinet. You close it, and everything looks neat. But you open it, and you're eyes are burned from a hellish fire of games.

rorysl #53 Posted February 24, 2009 I have this little area in the corner of my office where I put my favorite systems and games. Its in an old glassdoor bookcase my parents had for decades but it stores the games nice and neatly. I currently have a six switch, a 7800, an XEGS, and a top loading NES set up here. The rest of my games and systems are elsewhere in storage but this is my set up for play and display. Some doubles and my 8-bit carts are in a box under the shelfing unit and a box of assorted joysticks and controllers, with my toaster NES, are on the floor too. I notice you have the same cartridge holder as I do. The black one that holds two columns of games with a slot underneath for manuals, etc. They are wall mountable and can slot together from any side which is pretty neat. According to the back these were made in Canada and they must have made a bunch of them. I've got no less than 10 of these units that I've picked up in wild -- two that were still slotted together. I've always found these interesting and haven't been able to find any info on them on the net. Just bring it up because I noticed it in your pic and hadn't seen one outside of my collection ever! CARTRIDGE STEALER #54 Posted February 27, 2009 (edited) back in 1985, I built a cartridge holder for my coleco cartridges. I was always building weird things. I remember having to explain to people what it was. I always said that it was a coffin for my d**k! +Ransom #59 Posted March 22, 2009 (edited) As I've mentioned elsewhere, video game collecting is a seasonal activity for me that I pursue only in the cold months. We play all year, but actually seeking out, buying, cleaning up, repairing, etc. is just something for the cold months. During the warm months, in addition to playing video games, we go to theme parks. Anyway, now that it's getting toward the end of the frigid season, I'm just about done for the year. Since I've added a second place to play video games (third, really, if you count the TV in the loft with the PS2 and Jaguar hooked up), I thought I'd document it all here. So, here we go! Here's the primary video game station: Here's a closeup of the lower section, with an 800XL, an Intellivision, a TG-16, a 2600, two XF551 disk drives, an SNES, and a NES. And here's a closeup of the upper section, with two video switches, one for S-video, and one for composite: Here's the second station, with Genesis 2, 5200, 7800, and a 5200 trak-ball: Here's where I keep my disks, books, and controllers: And here's the game closet (I'll put close-ups of the shelves in the next post): Edited March 22, 2009 by Ransom
+Ransom #60 Posted March 22, 2009 Here are the close-ups I promised. I'll show them shelf by shelf, top to bottom, starting with the left-hand shelves, then the shelves in the back of the closet. First, the 2600 shelves: Then come the 5200 and 7800 carts: Next the three shelves of Atari 8-bit carts and disks: Now the back of the closet. Intellivision: NES, TG-16 and Genesis carts, then SNES and Jaguar carts: And finally, PS2 discs, Lynx games (there are more behind the visible row; I ran out of room!), and the Atari binders I keep my 8-bit documentation in: Thanks for coming with me on this tour of my video gaming headquarters. It's a really nice turntable too. Underneath it I have a JVC receiver and a Sony single tape deck.
