Cliff notes for 1st video: "Hi we are nintendo, all customers are idiots/bullys - sorry you have to deal with them, here are some easy ways to make them go away."

Nintendo could not be more right about this :)

Cool video.

Funny how they tried to pass off the "dirty connectors" problem as a customer maintenance problem, not a design flaw.

And that customer was so conveniently accepting of this and happily buys a cleaning kit, vs the customers earlier that were more agitated.

That aside, Nintendo really did have good customer service back then. Maybe they still do, haven't dealt with them in years.

Much as I dislike the NES now, and much as I love the Lynx over the Gameboy now, those shelves full of Nintendo product certainly were a nice nostalgia hit.

Yeah, that Nintendo vid sure did pass off 99% responsibility for any of their stuff being defective. Not that they'd ever admit, even now, what a major design flaw the NES had with it's connectors.

The video store guy sure was a goofball. I'd like to assume all of those pratfalls were intentional. I like the Tandy 1000 system he was using as their "main terminal". :D

Thanks for sharing those! good stuff!

Looking at my Nintendo shelf I can't help but agree with the statement in the training film about the Nintendo Seal of Quality. Right off the bat I see Swamp Thing, Festers Quest, Urban Champion and Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde they all proudly wear the seal. :rolling: yup quality!

And the video store training tape was awesome I loved the hot fresh day old popcorn! :D

i liked when the surly redneck mullet guy took a spill behind the counter...then quickly scurried out of the way. I bet he scurried off to play some DIO in his trans am .

Those faces he was making on the phone were a nice touch as well, there is nothing more tragic then a 'tard trying to be funny by doing cornball antics. A little part of me dies everytime i look at something like that...."IT'S HOKEY when he's so full of HI-JINKS" hi -yuck hi -yuck hi -yuck

The nerdy guy trying to return the Gameboy is the same actor that was on "Enterprise" as Dr. Flox..

Neat videos!

Are you certain that is John Billingsley? I really can't say for sure.

One thing I do know though is that I have never seen the screen on an original Gameboy look as clear and well defined as it did when the clerk held it up showing it playing Tetris. You can see the picture has obviously been added in later.

Yup, it was him. He has a very distinctive voice and facial features. ;)

I wonder what he'd say today if you'd approach him and bring up his small roll as the nerd in the Nintendo vid.
