kevincal #3 Posted February 8, 2009 Hmm Towers II I guess for me is all I can think of. Maybe also Black Ice/White Noise rev. 18 official release from 2003. Maybe also Painter official release. These are rare but not extremely.
shadow460 #4 Posted February 8, 2009 Yep. Shining Force III. Like an idiot I traded it off to help pay for a Dreamcast, then the Dreamcast was swiped later on. I think I got well under $20 in trade for SFIII at what's now GameSlop, now it goes goes for over $100 on ebay. I had the US release. There were also Avenging Spirit, Mysterium, the Game of Harmony, Miner 2049er, and Power Mission for the Game Boy. None are very expensive at all (about $10 each), but they are very difficult to find in the wild. Also, there was the USA version of Star Wars for the Game Gear, which rarely showed up on ebay when I was looking for it. European versions seemed to come up nearly all the time. I lucked out and got a USA version at Game X Change for $4.

lhfreak #6 Posted February 9, 2009 Years ago I found Smurfs Save the Day at a flea market for $4.00. Just the cart mind you! I knew it was rare but couldn't get it to work at all.....Just some smurf running back and forth on the screen......Later I had found out that you needed the KidVid player and the 3 cassettes..... But here's the kicker.....while at the flea market I had found, while going through all the junk that was there, the smurf cassettes (two of them).....I thought they were for some book or something.....I had no idea what I was holding until I found out later.....By the time I had gotten back to that vendor everything was gone....had I known what I was looking for I'm sure I might have found everything!! I sold the cart on ebay for around $45.00 shortly afterwards.....

Stan #8 Posted February 9, 2009 Hmmm, can't say I've ever made the mistake of trading or selling something that was potentially rare, I always checked first. I've had a number of rarities that I dumped over time, usually because, as we all know, most rare games aren't very fun to play. Beat 'em and Eat 'em comes to mind as one I had and got rid of. What an awful game. The rarest few things I have now? Hmmm, offhand I'm going to have to pull out, hmmm, I'd say my SMS Pad Checker cartridge, TecToy store demo cartridge and Smurfs gift set are some good ones. J.Max #9 Posted February 9, 2009 I've had so many that I've had to sell for one reason or another that I can't remember them all... -Both Cuttle Carts -A very large Saturn collection including all of the usual suspects: Radiant Silvergun, Panzer Saga, Shining Force III, Guardian Heroes, etc. (Now I have a modded Saturn though, so no great loss) -A complete collection of every game ever made by Treasure, including the STV cart of Radiant Silvergun. I still have Hajime No Ippo for the GBA and a prototype of Busters Bad Dream. -A fairly large collection for the FM Towns Marty -A VERY large (nearly complete) Amiga CD32 US collection -A Nuon Collection -Super Pro Fighter X II for the Mega Drive/SNES -At least two arcade cabs -3 Superguns, including a Sigma 3000. (The one I always wanted was the Sega Blast City).
Lendorien #10 Posted February 9, 2009 (edited) Hmmm. Most of mine are PC games. I got rid of many of them because they weren't important to me or they weren't valuable at the time. I had FF7 for pc for a while. That's pretty rare to find in the box complete. Also had Bridge Commander, which is hard to find. Also had a few pretty rare Infocom games and early versions of a couple of Sierra's King's Quest games. Nothing too exciting though. Lemmi #11 Posted February 9, 2009 -Both Cuttle Carts oh i forgot those i sold both of mine off also, mostly because i never played them, and by never i mean i never took them out of the sealed box they came in
KIWASABI #12 Posted February 9, 2009 Nothing insanely rare other than Panzer Dragoon Saga, which isn't super rare, but rare. I never played through it which I regret but I just don't care for RPGs. -Adam
Nukey Shay #13 Posted February 9, 2009 Dot Gobbler for the Vic-20 back in 1982 That was the only game that I owned at some point which is considered anywhere above rare today.
carmel_andrews #14 Posted February 9, 2009 (edited) A couple of A8 tape games that are rare/uncommon (which i no longer own) Cygnus X1 or XI (Atari UK)...according to the peeps that know this apparently wasnt supposed to be released (it's basically a piss poor version of sega's buck rogers planet of doom) Pogotron (Gamebusters)... A budget version of a rare/uncommon Red Rat/bignose software A8 game 'sprong' (both are said to be rare/uncommon) Edited February 9, 2009 by carmel_andrews
Reaperman #15 Posted February 9, 2009 (edited) I'm a poor schlub with nothing very rare. I did once sell a near mint and NIB legend of zelda (sold about 4 years ago)--but that's an *extremely* common game that just happens to have been expensive. too bad the thread isn't 'moderately rare but worthless'--that I have in spades. I noticed Nuon stuff mentioned in the list. I have the usual commons, but when bestbuy clearanced them, I picked up a fair number of extra copies. I wonder if they will someday be 'rare' in the valuable sense. Edited February 9, 2009 by Reaperman
Video #16 Posted February 9, 2009 Back in about 2000 or so, I cleaned out a store that was going out of business and got a crapload of games for various old 8bits, but I ended up with lots of dupes, including about 20 copys of Bounty Bob Strikes Back for the 5200, and those were all given away as at the time I had no clue it was worth anything. I'm still suspicious of anything being valueable if I end up with that many of them.
+thegoldenband #17 Posted February 10, 2009 Back in the day, I don't think I ever had anything for the Atari that was rarer than an R6 -- specifically, Cosmic Swarm for the 2600, Zaxxon and Mr. Do's Castle for the 5200. (Oddly, those were my first two 5200 games, together with Ms. Pac-Man.) The rarest NES stuff I've had is a B on the NES rarity list.
