Carpenter #1 Posted February 14, 2009 (edited) Hey folks! Take a look over this brazilian H.E.R.O. flash version. HEROI stands for "Helicóptero Especial de Resgate Objetivo Inteligente" in Portuguese or "Intelligent Objective Rescue Special Helicopter" Click on the image and once the game is loaded click on "Começar" to start the game. Use arrow keys to move and space bar to deploy TNT charges. Enjoy Edit: link added http://heroi.route10.com.br/ Edited February 14, 2009 by Carpenter
Carpenter #2 Posted February 14, 2009 Correction: Use space bar to fire, arrow down to deploy charges just like VCS. Sorry!
ninoy1995 #3 Posted February 18, 2009 Is there a way we can download the ROM and play with an Atari emulator? Just wishing.... Thanks.
LS_Dracon #4 Posted February 18, 2009 This is a Flash game... Interesting, but I preffer the original for vcs
pinball22 #5 Posted February 18, 2009 It's a good Flashification, I'm impressed. A couple of things -- the little animation where he prepares the dynamite seems like an unnecessary delay, and I think it's even harder to do the hanging-in-the-air thing than in the original. Other than that, it's a good port, thanks for sharing!
H.E.R.O.I. #6 Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) thank you so much, people Well... the controls works better when you use SHIFT to fire laser beam, not SPACE... cause SPACE may cancel(void?) some diagonal use of arrows... I agree, original is better, by various factors... Every one can paint Mona Lisa after DaVinci did... John Van Ryzin is a genius, made a 4kb game in 1984 with "precary" tolls... I´m just a mortal with good modern tools . some things... isn´t a "flashfication". I use a "oldschool" method called "tile based". For mount maps and calculate colisions... i´m not use vetorial colision detect natively in flash . And all sprites are made in gif/bmp/jpg format, never vetorial. Just to learn about "how old games was made". Google for Tonypa + Tiled based games. Awfull tutorial! Well, the diferences betweem original H.E.R.O. and H.E.R.O.I.: hang-in-the-air: yes... it´s a little more dificult without this "stall help", but, I want to change little things in this remake... isn´t a "ipsis litteris" remake(not a port... a port NEED to be "as original"), is a "free style version" The bomb animations: yes, unnecessary delay, about 0.7914 seconds... less than 8/10 of a second... It´s slow gameplay a little... anoying for those who play the original a lot, in the beggining, but, as I sayd, see this version like a "free other vision of the game" ... I use this animation to break the "freneticaly speed". Latter, I will make a English version menus and English version website, to keep highscores And, important, in the website has a Win32 downloadable version*, about 2mb, for those who like the game. And more important, the source code are available in Creative Commons License, for those who like modify ou use to make another game. Thanks! And sorry for my poor English (i don´t use translators, hahaha) * http://heroi.route10.com.br/site.php?pagina=download.php <- click on "Executável Windows" to download Win32 binaries PS: cool avatar, pinball22... Dark Cavern, the very first game I played. Good times PS2: i think my "neighbor" post this toppic in a wrong room... some moderator may put in right place? thanks Edit: link to download added Edited February 19, 2009 by H.E.R.O.I. pinball22 #7 Posted February 19, 2009 Yeah, my complaints mostly stem from having played the original SO much that something not working exactly the same disturbs the very automatic way my brain goes through it. Glad you like the avatar... I'm always happy to meet fans of Dark Cavern. Have you got plans to do any more remakes of 2600 games? I'd love to see more. Remakes, usualy, don´t bring anything (both, finantial and recognized) to developers. In this July, TecToy, a brazilian factory of video-games and toys, plan to release a 100% Brazilian console, named Zeebo. Tecnicaly is a "overpower mobile cellphone", in a stand case with TV-Out and controllers (don´t laugh, akakkakaka), but all things envolved in this project are interesting, specially for developers. Maybe I concentrate my "forces" in some original idea to TRY release a game in this console.

LS_Dracon #15 Posted February 20, 2009 I had good times with dactar swiched carts About Zeebo, this console will have build in games?
H.E.R.O.I. #16 Posted February 20, 2009 (edited) I had good times with dactar swiched carts About Zeebo, this console will have build in games? maybe 3~6 games built in and, by zeebonet (transparent and FREE 3G connection - the user don need to know that exists - like magical, akakkaka) may buy other games. The idea, seems strange, but dont... I dont know how to explain(language limitation, my english is very poor), but, believe, to brazillian market is a great idea(maybe not to tradicional gamers, who buy Wiis, PS3s and X360s)... LS_Dracon #17 Posted February 20, 2009 I'll keep myself informed about this console. I hope tectoy release dev kits, or a support for LUA language programming, this language was developed in Brazil and I read that is a good language, recently they ported to Sega Saturn (and most interesting, turn the saturn programming easy), also there is a PSP version.
