madhatter667 #1 Posted February 17, 2009 Hey guys, This still falls under classic gaming. I've had a Famicom, and a couple clones for some years now... but only have like 9 titles to play. I decided to change that recently. I have won, on auction, between eBay, and Chuckwagon.... as well as purchased a few titles from specialty shops. As long as all the sellers uphold their end of the bargain, my collection will swell big time in the near future. The titles are as follows: Dokuganryuu Masamune Daiku no Gensan Akumajou Special Druaga no Tou Devil World Hokuto no Ken 2 Labyrinth Wizardry Deep Dungeon (here starts the stuff I am waiting to receive in the mail) Sweet Home Parodius Da! Salamander Getsufu Maden Gradius Mother Fire Emblem Saint Seiya: Ougon Densetsu Minelvaton Saga Jajamaru no Dai Bouken Ninja Jajamaru Kun SD Gundam Gaiden: Knight Pocket Zaurus Ninja Kun Argus Hokuto no Ken Flipull Dragon Ball Z Mobile Suit Gundam: Hot Scramble Aigiina no Yogen Momotarou Densetsu Gaiden Momotarou Densetsu Ninja Hattori Kun Super Momotarou Densetsu Hi no Tori Houou Hengao no Bouken On top of all that, I do have a few Super Famicom Titles... Shin Megami Tensei Dragon Quest V Dragon Quest VI Elfaria Secret of Mana (don't ask me what the Jap title is). To top off the madness... I also won a PC Engine Core Grafx. These things can be region modded... so you can play TG16, and PCE Hu cards. This is something I want to look into, since it is smaller than the TG16... and there are a lot of good games between them. I am pretty sure that I am not the only import fan here, am I? C'mon guys, speak up! Spread some love around for the imports!
shadow460 #2 Posted February 17, 2009 I've got a few imports. Among them are a european Klax for the Game Gear, a Japanese Qix cart for the Game Boy, and a Japanese Burai Fighter cart for the Game Boy. Qix is identical to the American cart except for the label. Burai Fighter is much tougher, and far more enjoyable than the American carts. IIRC, the final bosses are different, too. The American cart has a dragon, whereas the Japanese cart has multiple bosses that you fight simultaneously. Once you get the hang of it's insane difficulty, it's a lot of fun to play. I played the import of Power Mission as well. It's far tougher than the US version, and that also adds to the fun factor once you've mastered the game. madhatter667 #5 Posted February 17, 2009 Oh yeah... I will get to learn all about collecting PC Engine games first hand. I finally popped for one. I've had a TG16 for a few years, and though my TG16 collection is very modest in comparison to say, my Atari, or Nintendo collections... it IS a system I really enjoy... at the time, I thought the Turbo Grafx was the $hit, and I had wanted one for a loooong time. Being that the PCE Core is smaller than the TG, and that there is a region switch mod/adapters for all region play... I think that collecting for this one is going to be rather fun. Glad to see that there are others on here that also collect imports. I just went off the deep end, and bought a butt-ton of Famicom titles all at once. Once my PCE comes in, then I can blow a few bucks getting a collection started there. IF anyone has some sources, aside from eBay (reputable online shops), I'd appreciate it if you could share links, as I am sorta new to importing anything aside from Famicom/SFC. There is an import shop not too far from where I live, but they do tend to charge more collector premium for their imported Nintendo titles... not as bad with their PCE... but still, I'd like to save money on the purchases if I can. kevincal #8 Posted February 18, 2009 I've had import games for only my Neo AES And Virtual Boy. I didn't enjoy them much because I greatly enjoy understanding what the heck I'm doing while I play a game. I can't read Japanese text in the least bit. jboypacman #9 Posted February 19, 2009 I have owned various import games over the years but i have settled on the PC Engine which i think is a fantastic choice and i have really been enjoying collecting and playing this system. I own about 53 games for the system but i won't go into all the games i currently own as my collection seems to keep growing at a nice pace.
madhatter667 #10 Posted February 19, 2009 Yeah, I am totally not regretting the PC Engine buy. I have a TG16, and like it a LOT. There are likely more games for the PCE. Anyone have recommendations for it? You could PM or post... input is input.
Lord Thag #11 Posted February 21, 2009 Outside of about twenty Famicom carts, I have a lot of PC Engine stuff. PC-Engine games are amazing. Sooooo many great games never made it stateside. It's shooter heaven! I have a Coregrafx II and a Duo-R, and a fat stack of fun titles to play. Great system, probably my favorite console (tied with the Neo) of the 16-bit era. madhatter667 #13 Posted February 23, 2009 How are: Nazo No Murasamejou and Knight Move. The latter is a chess game right? Famicom Disk System is a highly under-represented medium in my collection. One of the ones I am WAY after is Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffitti. I know where I can get a complete copy... just need to justify the cost. Hey Jboy... I have a US 9V 500Milliamp converter for the PC Engine in the correct grounding... what PSU are you using? I have heard of people using US 110V PSUs for Japanese consoles with the correct output voltage. Do I need to worry about burning anything at 500MA? A2600 #14 Posted February 23, 2009 To be honest... for my famicom all my games for now are FDS games. As I bought the famicom just for that. Nazo No Murasamejou, was the main reason why I bought an FDS in the first place. It has an overhead vew like Zelda and you go around either thrwing stuff at baddies or slashing them to see a nice red stain. Its a Challenging Game you if you ever have the means for an FDS highly recommended. Knight Move is a Chess Puzzle game, where you only use a knight to move across the board eliminating tiles below. The Maker of Tetris had a heresay in this game as when it boots its says 1990 Alex (forgot his last name)

Hi, Yeah, I now whatcha mean homeboy. Lately I have been dating a Japanese girl who's originally from Kyoto. Actually, I met her while attending Princeton. Maybe that's why i've got a hankern for chicken teriyaki lately. Hahaha (^_^). When we cook, I usually do the prep work on the grill & with the meats. She makes a killer teriyaki sauce that is a mixture of sweet & sour, with a light hint oil & vinegar. Clears your nostrils, but taste fantastic. Funny enough, she likes to play on Xbox Live. Awesome!! v(Λ Λ)v Note: When we been cooking some odd reason, we continue to hear the song "Stacy's Mom" by Fountains of Wayne. Now to listen to "Turning Japanese" by The Vapors. Anthony.... lushgirl_80 #19 Posted February 26, 2009 Turning Japanese by the Vapors....gawd I loove that song! Mmmm teriyaki is like one of the best sauces ever. Anyways I always thought the Super Famicom version of Street Fighter 2 is wayyy better than the American version. Why is it in alot of Super NES games alot of the original graphics get left out of the translation? I always liked the little crowd cheers and extra little things in the Japanese version. I'm actually saving my money to go to Tokyo this fall. Ohh I'm definitely going to buy some games there.
fdurso224 #20 Posted February 26, 2009 Now for that, I give two thumbs up !! Going to Tokyo & buy video games?? That's super awesome!!! Yuri told me once that Kyoto should be a must for us *Gaijins* (^_^). She says that if you love peace & nature, you'll love Kyoto. Anthony.... +FujiSkunk #24 Posted February 26, 2009 (edited) The Japanese version of Space Harrier for the Sega Saturn is really an awesome game, better than any US versions I've played... Actually, that one got released in the States as part of the Sega Ages compilation, bundled with After Burner and OutRun. And yeah, it's the best home port there is, pretty much arcade perfect. The 32x cartridge is a very close second, but it crops a bit of the picture. Most of my imports are for the Sega Master System; you pretty much have to rely on imports to get a decent collection of good titles for that system. I also have a handful of 2600 PAL cartridges, a smaller handful of Famicom carts, and a couple of Japanese Mega Drive cartridges. I have one Saturn import, a fighting game whose name now escapes me, that I found in a Goodwill of all places. One import I would absolutely love to find is Power Drift for the Saturn. I was hopelessly addicted to the arcade game when it came out, and it has never been given proper justice on the American home front (though the C-64 version is actually pretty decent for a C-64 game).
