xZanU #4 Posted February 24, 2009 My sister has done stuff like that. Things that (I would have taken) but she threw out without bothering to mention to anyone. Nintendo Game Cube with 20+ Games and controllers all working. PS1 Working with controllers and some games. 100+ Matchbox/Hotwheels cars/trucks/etc... This is all stuff she had bought for her kids in the past, but the kids stopped using/playing with them and she threw them away.

That might explain a few things since i find most of my free finds there. Xbox units, atari stuff, etc.

Garden of Electronics! One of the local recycle centers (In Toms River) takes electronics. They have two big roll off commercial size sled dumpsters where people just walk into and place their stuff down. I used to 'shop' there for computer parts when I needed them. You got to be quick though, the municipal workers don't like folks taken stuff out (I'd assume because they do it themselves after hours). It is a treasure trove at times. You have to be a local resident though to get in the place.
Mirage #10 Posted February 24, 2009 Nice find... some good ones in there. The newer SNES is especially nice!

I have a couple of places where i go in Jersey where people throw out games, hardware, computers, laptops, tvs, dvd players, stereo systems, Surround setups, etc. Even a couple of HD sets. IMO, Contra is the most valuable cart, and if sold may have brought in enough money to cover shipping the rest to potential buyers. Maybe since I've got plenty of free time right about now, I ought to go dumpster diving...

darthkur #17 Posted February 24, 2009 From the price tags on everything I'm assuming they tried to sell them at a yard sale and since they failed to be bought the resident deemed them worthless and tossed it all.

Actually, some have come from old video store rentals, and the others look to be old thrift store finds. Been on there for a long time. Yellowed and dirty. Sometimes you just have to "man up" on things like this. If picking up a clean wal=mart bag that's already out for the taking grosses you out, I'd hate to see what would happen if another man spit his Copenhagen or skoal in front of you. Fortunately for me, I'm not a woman and i make alot of money from other peoples ignorance. If you dumb enough to throw things like this away, then expect some of us to take!
