Issue with latest mame (v .129 and 129 u4) the GUI version

It seems that the cheat engine of mame is broken or doesn't work, I tried to access it via selecting the enable game cheats on the miscelaeneous tab, I also have a cheat dat file there, version 117 (in the mane directory) yet when i load up a mame rom and select the inbuilt UI, it doesnt show the cheat option or the dip switch option

 

does anyone know what the problem is here or have a version of mame ui (32 or 64bit version) that works with the cheat option
