Sheepz #1 Posted March 1, 2009 Does Combat have a single player mode?
Wickeycolumbus #2 Posted March 1, 2009 Not that I am aware of.
Nukey Shay #3 Posted March 1, 2009 Try to hit the opponent the most times before the time runs out? It's challenging to get into the 30's (except in 3 planes vs. the bomber).
accousticguitar #4 Posted March 1, 2009 I routinely get into the 30s with my hack Dogfight. http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=138935
shadow460 #5 Posted March 1, 2009 Hmm, maybe tilt the stick and press the button on the player 2 joystick, then tape it all up so it stays that way. Or just set something heavy on the P1 joystick so the three planes keep shooting, then try to outscore them with the bomber.
Sheepz #6 Posted March 1, 2009 Nice idea guys! I asked because I have just won an Atari Jr. with one joystick and combat. Got this for $10 so I think I got a good deal? I guess I'm gonna have to wait a bit to play. First things to get are another joystick and warlords (my favorite game). Then I'm getting donkey kong, yars revenge, PAC-MAN, and space invaders. Got any other good games I should get?
cvga #7 Posted March 1, 2009 Sounds like a good deal to me. I'd also get Pitfall, Beamrider, Tapper, Kaboom, Toyshop Trouble, Ms. Pacman, Berzerk, Ladybug, Demon Attack, Pitfall II, Space Attack, Solar Fox, Wizard of Wor, Adventure plus several others
Wickeycolumbus #8 Posted March 1, 2009 Thats not a bad deal at all
accousticguitar #9 Posted March 1, 2009 As long as it works that's a good deal. My favorite 2600 games are Adventure and Millipede.
Mirage #10 Posted March 1, 2009 Let's just be honest here. You're probably going to become addicted, and then you'll want to get them ALL (which is near impossible). Kidding. See the top 100 2600 games thread, or any of several other threads for ideas on what a lot of people think are the best games. Also of course check out the homebrews here in the AA store. Those are some of the best 2600 games ever made. A lot of them are so good you wouldn't even believe they're on the 2600. Have fun!
Sheepz #11 Posted March 1, 2009 (edited) Forgot about Adventure! Thats another classic too. The guy said it was all tested and is working so yeah! It looks good, not any major damage. As soon as I get it I am going to clean it up and see what I can do to restore it. Edit: Another goal of mine is to get a EPROM programmer. Saw one for about $250. Wickeycolumbus #12 Posted March 1, 2009 Edit: Another goal of mine is to get a EPROM programmer. Saw one for about $250. This is the one I use, and am very happy with. What ever you do, dont buy a willem. Even though it is advertized to support the types of chips the 2600 uses, it needs an extensive mod to do so. Hornpipe2 #14 Posted March 1, 2009 (edited) You can build your own EPROM programmer (driven by PC parallel port) for way cheap: http://outflux.net/software/pkgs/EPROM/mirror Edited March 1, 2009 by Hornpipe2

Oh right. Well that's for my multicart anyway : ) The page links to the EPROMR2 which burns 2764 up to... well it's not listed but the software shows at leats 27512. Mostly the same design, different hookups. Evidently the software needs a slow PC. http://www.zws.com/products/epromr2/
