Tempest #1 Posted March 4, 2009 I have a stack of really nice arcade maquees that I'd like to display in my game room. The problem is that they're the old glass ones and they're VERY heavy. Unlike the plastic ones for newer games, there is no way they'll hold onto a wall if I put some sticky squares on the back of them. I have one that I had framed (Space Duel) and it looks and hangs really nicely, but framing gets expensive. Is there any alternative way to hang them onto walls? Ian Primus #2 Posted March 4, 2009 I think that the best way to hold arcade marquess would be to put them into the brackets on the arcade machine. That seems to hold them nicely I've got a couple of plastic marquees hangung up using push pins - some below, some above, to hold them in place. For the glass ones, I'd go for those mirror hanging tabs that go around bathroom mirrors. Another idea would be to get a strip of wood with a groove in it, and screw the wood to the wall, resting the marquee in the groove, with perhaps another on top? What about those spring clips they make for holding plates to the wall? Perhaps one could me modified to hold a marquee? -Ian
Mirage #3 Posted March 4, 2009 (edited) The little clear plastic mirror/glass holders/hangers. Usually sold near picture frame hangers etc at Home Depot, Menards, etc... maybe Wal Mart. Just put 4 of them, one near each corner. You barely see them, and they hold a lot of weight, way more than enough for a glass marquee. Dang, Ian beat me to it. I took the time out to try to look for a picture of one, but didn't find one. Mirror hanging tabs for bathroom mirrors. I've used them for very large mirrors before. These aren't at all what I meant (can't find a pic of those still), but these may work as an alternative. No nail holes too, then. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Command%C2%AE-Pict...s/dp/B0014CVB8I Edited March 4, 2009 by Mirage1972

PacManPlus #5 Posted March 4, 2009 (edited) I was lucky when I went the 'framing' route: $4 each (although I printed the marquees smaller than actual size). Pictures here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...629&hl=MAME Thanks for the idea... I can add to my small actual marquee collection with some nicely framed printouts. Those look really good!
Atariman #8 Posted March 8, 2009 I actually built a box for my Pacman Plus marquee. I had a spare fluorescent light fixture laying around, so now I have a lit marquee in my living room.
pinball22 #9 Posted March 9, 2009 Those command adhesive hangers Mirage linked to are really awesome for fairly light things... we have a lot of stuff hanging by them in our house. However, they're only good for a limited amount of weight, and from the things I've tried to hang with them and failed, I'd think a glass marquee is too heavy (and something you really don't want to have fall!). So, like Ian and Mirage both said, go with the mirror hangers.
missioncontrol #10 Posted March 9, 2009 I actually built a box for my Pacman Plus marquee. I had a spare fluorescent light fixture laying around, so now I have a lit marquee in my living room. this is what I'm doing with my Missile Command marque... If you are going to hang your marquees you should build them in boxes with a light behind them to really make them shine....
JonnyS #11 Posted May 10, 2020 I know I’m probably late to the party, but I had an original PAC Man Marquee. I tried using command strips to hang it, but (much to my horror) they quickly came off of the plexiglass along with a solid rectangle of the original paint. Now I’ve got two clear rectangles on either corner. DO NOT USE COMMAND STRIPS!!!
