Linkz1 #2 Posted March 10, 2009 Pretty neat little article, though it seems to only be a short history of the Atari.

Linkz1 #4 Posted March 10, 2009 At least it's getting some recognition. True enough...now, if only kids born after 1985 started appreciating it...

Most kids born after 1985 haven't even heard of Atari. You my friend (and a few others on AA), are the exception. I was born in 1979 and we we're definitely the NES generation. I was the only kid I knew that had a 2600... everyone else had a Nintendo.

I was born in 1974 so I was around when the Atari 2600 debuted. Yes, I was young, but we had one in the home and I played it with my father every single day. The memories! -Mike Edited March 10, 2009 by STGuy1040

I tell you what, even many of US old people write it off. My uncle and brother get swallowed up by the bells and whistles of everything new Sony throws down the pike. My brother ESPECIALLY turns his nose up at the classics. My 8 year old daughter on the other hand, knows that there is no console that surpasses the 2600!! She wants it when I die. That's kind of shocking actually...most of my friends are a little older than me, but are still 80s babies and they prefer the Atari as well...then again, we're not the graphics whores that a lot of younger gamers tend to be. Stan #9 Posted March 10, 2009 Decent article. I have to disagree with kids not knowing about this, depends on the age. From teaching, I can tell you that the majority of my students have been familiar with the Atari and a number even play them from time to time, even if only by emulation. I've even heard a number of them comment that they prefer older games because they're less complex, easier to get into for the most part and readily playable.
