Parrothead #1 Posted March 15, 2009 (edited) Check it out y'all. Another 5+ hour podcast dedicated to classic gaming goodness. http://retrogamingroundup.com/shownotes/20...002-2009-03.htm Edited March 15, 2009 by Parrothead
ComputerSpaceFan #2 Posted March 26, 2009 Mike I love your show, man, honestly. But 5+ hours is not a good thing. I don't think I'm alone in this opinion either. Not that I don't enjoy the content but is there any way the show can go on a bit of a diet?
S1500 #3 Posted March 26, 2009 Mike I love your show, man, honestly. But 5+ hours is not a good thing. I don't think I'm alone in this opinion either. Not that I don't enjoy the content but is there any way the show can go on a bit of a diet? You're not alone. The length was discussed on the chasethechuckwagon forums. The ideas to shorten it were dismissed saying it would ruin the identity of the episode(I might be misquoting). I don't see how, as any of the segments of the 2 eps could be changed around, and it wouldn't really change anything.
ComputerSpaceFan #4 Posted March 26, 2009 I see. Again, I mean no disrespect to the two Mike's and Scott, they do an awesome show. They were kind enough to plug my website on their premiere episode too. It's just that at this rate I may not be able to keep listening, I don't have that many spare hours to listen to a monthly podcast (I already subscribe to half a dozen others). JamesD #5 Posted March 26, 2009 5+ hours! There are things I love to do that I don't want to do for 5+ hours! If a podcast is over 1/2 hour the odds of me listening to the entire thing is almost zero.
jboypacman #6 Posted March 26, 2009 Great show Mike! listen to it in the car all week long when am driving to work, lol. Seriously it is a great show but for someone that wants a quick podcast fix 5 hours is abit long but i understand that you don't want to lose your podcasts identity but you might want to look at shorting them. But no disrespect here i do love the show but i worry you might lose so listeners because of the length and to me that would be tragic. Good luck and i will keep listening no matter how long it is. JamesD #7 Posted March 26, 2009 After listening to a 10 minute rant about Copywrite laws I said enough. It's just a rehash of every other Copywrite discussion I've heard. (and after reading the CoCo mailing list I get to read about it all the time) No thanks!
Dan Iacovelli #8 Posted March 26, 2009 I have to agree 5+ hours are too long. an idea might be have the show split in separate d/ls 1 for each half.
RJ #9 Posted March 27, 2009 (edited) That Brit needs to get over his Mega Drive/Genesis hangup. I hope that wont be his main focus/part on the podcast. I dont like to listen to someone droning on & on (that was Shane's job ) & I appreciate comedy, but my God, make it funny! In the 1st show, by the 3rd time he said "Genesis is a band, not a console", it wasnt funny anymore. & the whole bit he did this past episode w/ the Genesis music sound clips was pointless & stupid filler. There's a whole nation that calls it the Genesis- IT IS A CONSOLE. At least at 5+ hrs I can skip thru & not miss much. I can get it down to about 3 hrs, but around 1 hr or so is ideal for me. The whole show is a great effort but there are some obvious things that need work. Edited March 27, 2009 by RJ
S1500 #10 Posted March 27, 2009 I'm in agreement with some sentiments here. Like I've endlessly complained about before: 1 hour-90 minutes is ideal(IMO) for a podcast episode. I know Retrogamingradio back in their eps got just a bit long winded with individual segments. I can't think of anyone wanting to hear 1 person talk(solo) for a whole 90 minutes why you should buy the original game instead of firing up an emulator. Roundtable discussions will always beat out monologues. Something to bounce off of each other. But hey, gridcycle geekcast is 1 hour!
