nathanallan #1 Posted March 19, 2009 I might be getting four arcade machines, and I want to take them off of coin-op and just play them (or make them remote controlled). Is there an easy way to do this? I've never really worked with them before, and I'm new to it all. Is there an online tutorial or something I can read? Any help is appreciated! +remowilliams #2 Posted March 19, 2009 Many arcade machines have free play DIP or software settings. It's usually specific per machine.

Some arcade games have a free-play dipswitch setting option. Some games don't and need an upgrade kit to add it. If a machine doesn't have it, and in lieu of spending a large chunk on change on an upgrade kit, I'd imagine the easiest/cheapest thing to do would be to just wire up a mommentarty push button across the coin input. You can go here for operators manuals of many machines..... http://www.basementarcade.com/arcade/libra...nualentrey.html
theking21083 #4 Posted March 19, 2009 (edited) Each machine is different. Some only require a dip switch setting while others might require you to mod the game by adding hardware. You could also always add a button for credits and wire up to the coin mech harness. Do you know what games you will be getting? +FujiSkunk #5 Posted March 19, 2009 If all else fails, you can do what my stepfather's parents do with their arcade game collection: just leave buckets of quarters everywhere.

Artlover, thanks for the link, I'll be checking it out. king, I *might* be able to get Galaga, Ms. Pac Man, TMNT 4-player and Mortal Kombat 2. But we'll see. I made an offer, adn the machines are all pretty beat up so she may take it. To them, they're a headache and they get more complaints since they all eat quarters. I'm thinking I can make a remote control for them. If there's a dip switch or something like it, I can lay cables to them. Mad networker, right here Nathan

Artlover #8 Posted March 19, 2009 Galaga, Ms. Pac Man, TMNT 4-player and Mortal Kombat 2. Galaga, Ms.Pac Man and Mortal Kombat 2 all have free-play modes accessble by dipswitch. TMNT does not, and doesn't have any upgrade kit that I'm aware of.
