STICH666 #1 Posted March 26, 2009 I want to know if it's worth getting. My cousin has one and will give it to me for $100. Is it worth it? As far as I can tell, all the games are variations of pong.
+Psionic #2 Posted March 26, 2009 It's worth $100+ if it's complete...significantly less if it's missing many of the pieces and overlays (which they frequently are).
BassGuitari #3 Posted March 26, 2009 It's historical value makes it worth it, I think. I have a CIB Odyssey, myself. If you actually want to play games, I would unfortunately have to say no, it's not worth it. The novelty of screen overlays and little cards and tokens and game pieces wears off quickly. It may be better to think of Odyssey as more of a board game with a video component; in which case, if you really like board games, you might like it quite a bit. There's really only one "pong" game (actually two: Table Tennis and Tennis, the only difference being Tennis uses a screen overlay depicting a tennis court.), but many of the games do consist of moving a block around the screen behind an overlay (Haunted House, Skiing, and Interstellar Voyage -or whatever they're called- being notable examples). Except for Table/Tennis, there aren't any Pong games on Odyssey. At least none I can think of. Also, getting it work on a modern television may be a hassle. STICH666 #4 Posted March 27, 2009 Well I think I might get it since he said he's just gonna give it to me for $50. It has no overlays (my TV is way too big anyway) and 2 controllers. Those things are so damn big they give the Duke Xbox controller a run for it's money.
