the.golden.ax #3 Posted March 27, 2009 I'm fairly certain this is NTSC. DoublDown what do you think? AX
doubledown #4 Posted March 27, 2009 I'm not 100% sure, but if I'm not mistaken, from top down: U.S. Canadian European The U.S. and Canadian vary with the addition of the French language on the console overlays, but I believe the only CBS consoles were European. And there were 2 European CBS variants, the standard version with RF output, and the French only SECAM variant, with RGB output.

STICH666 #6 Posted March 27, 2009 It's definitely not Canadian since everything in Canada sold by Coleco has everything in French and English.
HARMIK #7 Posted March 27, 2009 Hmmm strange should not work on NTSC CBS units should all be Pall, you could take a look inside Pall units have there RF on a seperate board.

HARMIK #9 Posted March 27, 2009 I just thought of something your TV if its a new ish one might be auto switching to Pall. We use Pall here in Australia but most my consoles are NTSC, my Sony CRT TVs just switch.

ten-four #11 Posted March 27, 2009 Hi... You're right doubedown. There are indeed 2 different variants of the CBS version. I have the French version with RGB. But as I see the images from jc78_2005 there must be a 3th. version. the phono connector on the back tends not to sit out against the back panel. jc78_2005 also says is't a Rev. J. So perhaps it's one of the last which has been produced. A ColecoVision operating worldwide, whether it is a CBS or just ColecoVision plays no difference. Remember the power suply to fit with the country you live in. In countries with 50Hz. will a ColecoVision be a bit slower.
Murph74 #12 Posted March 27, 2009 For what it's worth, I recall KayBee toys selling the CBS version in the 80's for like $29.99 in the US (think it got down to $9.99 before they sold out completely).

No idea how many were made, but they were definitely at the tail end of the ColecoVision's lifespan. Toward the end, when Coleco and CBS were liquidating inventory it wasn't unusual to see CBS stuff dumped in North America. It wouldn't be surprising if CBS had extra system shells and decided to use them on NTSC systems.

Yeah same here I've seen CBS Colecovision systems (Brand New Boxed) at Kay-Bee Toys here in USA. They even had the CBS Logo on the box and the system. PBJ i think you're in the right direction with regard to Coleco Inc. have emptied their last stocks.
HARMIK #19 Posted March 28, 2009 Also looks like they updated around the joystick ports, seems to have some clamps to hold them in place better.
