moycon #1 Posted March 28, 2009 Holy sweet mother this game looks outrageously awesome.... http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/28/video-to...play-prototype/ Haven't heard anything about it, but I'm thinking it's one I'm definitely going to be looking out for. Anyone else think this game looks cool?

STICH666 #7 Posted April 9, 2009 Is this exclusive?
nonner242 #8 Posted April 9, 2009 I think I looks pretty decent....Not the norm by any means....very anime story inspired. Been kinda watching this for over a year...looks much better than the original video I saw. They said it was like Crackdown meets something original with 1000x better Grfx and upgrades.... Looks like it. Might get this afterall Maybe wait and rent it first or wait till price goes to $39. Im tired of paying $65 for new games.
moycon #9 Posted April 9, 2009 They said it was like Crackdown meets something original with 1000x better Grfx and upgrades....Im tired of paying $65 for new games. Funny you should mention this. Crackdown is one of my favorite games of all-time. What would really set this over the edge, was if like Crackdown it had co-op. They have it listed for $56.99 on Amazon. I agree, that's still pricey. I usually like to wait till a game is like >$30. If this gets kick ass reviews though (like Left4Dead did) I might have to splurge. I thought it might be an exclusive STICH666, but checking Amazon it looks like a PS3 version is being released also.
moycon #10 Posted June 9, 2009 This game was released today, and I snagged a copy with a -$25 giftcard. Been playing it for a bit. It is sort of a cross between Hulk Ultimate Destruction (From what I've heard), GTA 4 and Crackdown with some of The Darkness mixed in. That said, it's no funner than the games I've listed. Right now from what I've played, I like Crackdown much better. Not a game I'd recommend rushing out to get for full price. Granted I've only played for a few hours, and I'm still unlocking stuff. Most of it is VERY familiar territory. I'll admit, the ability to absorb people and disguise yourself is VERY cool. Finding and consuming a base commander and then waltzing passed guards before deciding to grab a tank and hurling it at them is fun for sure. The camera in the last major battle I had was both crappy and frustrating. That's never a good sign in a video game. I'll admit I was in a place of close quarters when it happened. Hopefully the times I have to fight inside are few and far between. It left me with the impression that this game isn't as polished as it could be. I was hoping this was going to be like Crackdown which was just a completely awesome game. I guess not. Well at least they're working on Crackdown 2 for next year.... moycon #12 Posted June 23, 2009 Any love I had for this game was crushed by how insanely easy it is to get a strike team called on you and how insanely big of a pain in the ass it is to get away from them. The game is hard, frustratingly hard and that's on the normal setting. I've heard trying to play through the game on the hard setting is very, very angering. I wont have the patience for that. If I ever do make it through the campaign, I'll sell the game the next day. To be honest I might not even make it through one play through. Sure wish I had waited on that one. Red 5 #13 Posted June 25, 2009 Thanks for the review Moycon. Saving me $60.00. I'll wait till it hits the bargain bins in a year or two.
moycon #14 Posted June 25, 2009 Thanks for the review Moycon.Saving me $60.00. I'll wait till it hits the bargain bins in a year or two. I would say if you find it for $20 or less it would be worth the cash. It's has it's moments, just not enough of them. I haven't played it in days and I don't miss it. I do plan on playing through to the end though.
Artlover #15 Posted July 3, 2009 I've been playing it. It's not bad. I've heard it compared to PS3's inFamous. Dunno if I would say it's hard. But I'm only in it a few hours. Only up to "The Web", and it's been fairly easy so far. Yeah, strike teams are annoying, but they are easy enough to kill. I think the hardest things in the game are the damn Hunters. And even they are fairly easy to kill with the claws or extendo-tenticle thingy. Big open world, you can do almost anything including walk up walls and fly. Freaking sweet. So far anyways. GFX is fairly decently. Grafitti looks nice. It seems to be a transparent overlay that is placed over wall textures. The only problem here is that it's like a few pixels infront of the wall. If you get your camera looking at it from the side and move around a bit you can see how it "sticks out" slightly. Not so much being noticeably infront of a wall, but you can see how when you move, it moves ever so slightly different then the wall behind it does. Honestly, I'm not even put off by this, as it gives it a rather different feel then most games where it's flat texture and is a nice change of pace. Not worth $60, but again, no game is worth $60 to me. (No console is worth $400+ either, but that's a anti-ps3 rant for another day. )

moycon #18 Posted July 4, 2009 (edited) Dunno if I would say it's hard. But I'm only in it a few hours. It's not hard a few hours in. You'll know when it start getting hard because you'll be cussing. You think you've seen strike teams a couple hours in BWAHAHAHA You will refer to those early encounters as pussy teams before it's all over. I can already tell the difficulty is going up a bit. The last mission I did took like 3 tries and even then I just ever so barely made it. Haven't started the next mission yet tho, just screwing around killing infected and crap for xp.

That's one thing I like about the game (not the brutal difficulty ramp) the ability to just go around collecting XP, I guess forever, since there seems to always bee the same number of good held, and infected held bases in the game. It's funny, as I hate this in RPG's (having to level up for dozens of hours to fight one person, play awhile, geto another person, have to level up for dozens more hours to beat them, etc) but having that as an option in a game is cool. In regular RPG games, taking time and leveling up (a dozen seems a bit excessive, a couple hours is usually sufficient) actually makes a big difference. In Prototype...it does not, you can spend 12 hours leveling up if you want, you'll still be cussing in Prototype.
Video #22 Posted July 7, 2009 Well, yeah, the dozen was a bit off an exaggeration, but you get the point, I always find it funny when people talk about RPG's and say "it's cool cause it's an X hour game" and I'm asking if it's a legit X hour game, or an artificial X hour game....for some reason people always just stare at me like a deer in headlights or something. What? it's a perfectly legitimate question, I just want to know if the game is properly designed (golden sun)that you level up at the same speed as you move through the world, or if the game is poorly designed (final fantasy) where you'll go through the world, and be stuck at a boss till you level up enough. Artificial lengthening of a game, it just sucks ass. But what I was meaning, having the game set up where you don't have to do the primary missions is cool (well, don't have to unless you want to advance in the game, but can still play otherwise)
