Uh Oh...Intec, I hate you

So yea, I decided to finally open the metal case for my GC that I haven't touched in years. I go to open it, and it has one of those combination 3 number code locks. Yea.. I can't remember what the heck this is. Luckily the cube isn't inside, but I hear stuff rattling around in there.

 

What should I do? Is there a way to reset this, or better yet, were all the boxes the same code? ...lol i wish

with cheap combo locks you can often put opening pressure on the box and spin the barrels one at a time until they stick into the correct place. They're not tough locks. Works on most bike locks too. Some with switches can get tricky

 

and generally new locks are set in the '000' position.

Seriously I have a pad lock like that. Just take Reaperman's advice of applying some pressure while turning the numbers. You should be able to get er open.

I hit the box that you slide to the left, and Im even trying to open the box, and it doesnt seem like the combo locks stick at any particular number.

Good news everyone! After playing with the lock for about 2 hours, the number came to me (don't ask how.. haven't touched this in 3 years) and walla it opened .

 

 

All this......for a memory card. Kinda not really worth it haha. But at least I know the combination now.

Tattoo the combo on the calf of your leg, that way, 10 years from now when you forget it again you can just look at your leg and have it right there!

Obviously you've never worked in network security. The correct way to handle this situation is to write the code on a post-it note, then stick the note to the box. That way it will be right there when you need it!
