DaytonaUSA #1 Posted April 7, 2009 Maybe I should clarify further...should I buy a DS to get Rhythm Heaven? While technically I "have" a DS at my disposal, it's a phat and it's now been given to someone else in the house. The lite I had, with all the games, I sold as I never played the system. With the launch of the new DS iteration (which I'm hoping is the last), I was thinking of picking up this game and a system sometime down the road, but wanted to know if anyone else had played the game. I'd avoid previous disappointing purchases such as Nintendogs Metroid Prime Hunters, and Ridge Racer, but I think I'm actually starting to miss certain games like Meteos and Mario Kart DS. But is all this really worth the asking price of the game and this system.. that's what I'm wondering. Your thoughts?
DaytonaUSA #2 Posted April 7, 2009 No one on the opinion of getting the game or the system? (ie: both) My threads must really suck.. the last 3 I made haven't gotten any responses at all haha .
jbanes #3 Posted April 7, 2009 Here's my thoughts: - No, I don't have a DSi yet. But I want one. - NintendoLife gave the game a 9/10. So it's well received among its target audience. - The game is targeted to the casual market who enjoys much of the popular Wii and DS software. If you don't count yourself in that crowd, DON'T BUY IT*. * Actually, do buy it. Then when you don't like it, sell it to me for 50% of the original price. Make sure you don't disturb the manual or registration card. In fact, don't even take them out or look at them. Especially not the registration card. I... uh... want the title in pristine condition for my collection. Yeah, that's it. Pristine condition.

If you like them, you will like RN.
shep #6 Posted April 8, 2009 Yes, it is an excellent title. I can't put it down! Casual or hardcore? Who cares, its fun and that's what matters!
DaytonaUSA #7 Posted April 8, 2009 I like games like DDR or Vip Ribbon. I just don't know if it's worth buying a DS for or not. I think i'd love it. Also, the green colored DSi I really like is a japan exclusive i guess.. which they're charging a whopping 250 for!!! Screw that! If anything, I'll wait for the green to come state side, or just settle for the slightly less appealing teal.
16-bit #8 Posted April 16, 2009 Ign gave it a 9.0. It looks like a fun game. Kind of like Wario Ware mixed with Elite Beat Agents. I'd say just get the DS Lite. Gamestop is selling refurbished Lites for $109.
ComputerSpaceFan #9 Posted April 16, 2009 I would recommend you try out Rhythm Tengoku for the GBA to see if you like this style of game. Personally I think it's even better. There's a bunch of Japenese in it but you can sorta figure out how to play from it. Don't have a GBA? There might be an emultation option. Heck, it only uses a couple of buttons so it's super simple to use a keyboard for it. I tried the demo of Rythm Heaven on my DS and I didn't much like the use of the stylus for it. Rhythm Tengoku's way of using the A and B button was more enjoyable for me.

I don't know, if you take the time to get used to Rythm Heaven and the stylus it's actually more fun than Rhythm Tengoku (IMHO). I'm not sure I would buy a DS just to play one game... but you can't go wrong with a DS (any version) because there are 100's of great games for the system. The only trouble is wading through the shovelware. That is where a flash cart comes in handy, so you can try everything before shelling out any money. I actually do have a flash cart, I just have no idea how to use it. I wanted to put some NES emulators on there (of games I own of course), but I couldn't figure out how. The only thing I coudl figure out was how to put a really really quiet, overly compressed movie on there. At that point I think I just bought a PSP and said to hell with it. If you know what to do , I'm all ears.

Nice and easy with mostly all drag and drop. Plus they have a new firmware called "Sakura" that makes the interface nice and smooth.
Apok #13 Posted April 20, 2009 I'd say just get the DS Lite. Gamestop is selling refurbished Lites for $109. To be honest, I'd recommend going for a newer one. Alot of the DSlites I see (I work at an EB) look like they've been through hell and back. I much prefer the DSi so long as you don't need the GBA slot. Feels like its built better, but since you've already got a flash cart I'd get a new DSlite or hope you can find a refurb in decent shape.

Actually, I can't find my flash cart... been looking everywhere since I posted that . Nah, I don't really need a GBA slot.. never really liked that version of Gameboy (ducks). I still prefer my Pocket. I kinda regret selling my DS Lite if only for the fact that it WAS immaculate as all my systems are. The guys at Gamestop where I traded it in, were drooling over it as if they've never seen a system that new before. They kept asking me how long I had had it, and when I said I bought it at launch and handed over 35 games they were shocked. Btw, I usually don't trade at Gamestop, but I was trying to get my 360 (which I have sold since lol) and they had a great deal going on that was much better than me selling on my own.
