Gabriel #1 Posted April 7, 2009 I've noticed lately that Warpspeed seems to get a lot of votes for being one of the most horrible games of the 16 bit era. This is one of those games I had back in the day, and I don't remember it being that bad. To tell the truth, I eagerly anticipated it's release. I remember seeing a preview in some game magazine of the time. It looked like a sort of updated version of Star Raiders. I loved Star Raiders, but I couldn't play it at the time because all my 5200 controllers were dead. So, Warpspeed seemed like just the thing. I'll admit I wasn't blown away by the game. It was admittedly low quality. And some of the battles were definitely like watching an aquarium. But I played the heck out of it. Even after the two week period wore out (I only had enough money to buy 1 game every two weeks at best), I still played it a fair bit. Eventually I did sell it, though. So, the question is, is this game really horrible, or does it just get a bad rep? Is it really so loathsome as to be mentioned in the same breath as X-Perts or Kris Kross Make My Video? Should I apply the classic game axiom of "It was only good because I was poor and my entertainment options were limited."?
