Commodore 64 vs Atari 800 Xl

Recommended Posts

Well, games on you then. Remo is no chump. He actually read the thing, wondered about the point made by you, reinforced by me later, wondering just why it was not really acted on.

The answer, for Remo, is the sincere desire to educate and clarify misinformation about older machines, currently being exploited by you, for what I think is entertainment. That's the truth of how I see it, which is why I responded the way I did.

Nothing personal on that, just rational.

Carry on :)

Dream on.

His posting before that wasn't very nice. And it was not about computers either.

I will show him what those synesthetes is real good at. And he will not like it.

Belive me...

I will give him a taste of the same thing in another part of this forum.

For the record then, you plan on making non-productive contributions here, with the intent of causing distress to another forum member?

Where did you see that?

In his two latest postings.

Do you think that those 2 postings was to any good for the thread?

Think before you answer that one. Because i will treat you in a certain way depending of what you answer.

Want links to these postings?

Let's just clear something up right now. How you treat me has absolutely NO impact on any answer I might give. You are just not that significant. That's not meant as a personal slam, it's just fact. Truth is, we are here on a retro gaming and computing forum talking about old machines, that's it, end of story morning glory.

So we aren't here to read stuff like this?

How is this 'discussion' still going on with someone who has professed to having a neurological disorder that makes him see things that aren't there and see them differently then the rest of normal humanity?

That's not "productivity?"

We are here to have fun discussing retrogaming?

Well, don't let me forget that. Because you won't like at all if i get mad and gives back.

Okey, i will forget this, but one more time, i will get back good. He will beg to leave this place, belive me.

This is a valid question. You've claimed to have different color sensory perception than most people. It follows then there would be no consensus on the "better" color palette. There is no harm there. It's perfectly ok to have that sensory difference. Many people do, myself included.

Follow on to post #823. Some humor aimed at what is clearly a futile conversation.

Both of those are very tame, and not something that would warrant your plainly stated threat of retribution, nor do they warrant your implied threat of same against me, should I choose not to align with your ego desires, such as they are.

I don't see any other threats of that kind here, just yours. It doesn't have to be that way, you know.

Edit: After reading your follow on post above, I must conclude that you have issues. There has been absolutely nothing said on this topic that warrants the threats, both implied and direct, that you've just made. I can no longer speak with you. Please reconsider that conduct, and have a nice day.

Against my better judgement, I'm going to flat out say deletion is not required at all. Just relax some, enjoy the tech, the people, and all is good. Again, it does not have to be this way.

Avatar removed.

Now i will change password to something that i can't remember and throw it away. That's pretty much the same as cancel my account.

Sorry about this.

But as a synesthete i'm way to emotional for some forums, i belive.

Good luck with your retrogaming. ;) :)

And excuse me if i got mad for a while there.

If he had stayed, the final simplification would have ended up being 800 > 64. Atari wins!

And it's a fact that the C64 has three 16-bit channels whilst the A8 only gets four 8-bit channels.

There's a neat trick that I wish I'd known sooner. If you alternate between two adjacent frequencies fast enough, it sounds like the middle pitch. For lower frequencies you can do it at the screen rate, but for better quality a 100 or 120Hz interrupt sounds better. Anyway, you can simulate 9-bit pitch pretty easy this way which makes a big difference and doesn't cost you any voices.

Has anyone got a lossless, artefact-free version of this bit?

I used this image from the Amiga version to grayscale as it didn't have the blue background effect, is that any help?

Bear in mind it has a few frames of animation for the jaw opening and closing.

I still remember reading seeing a shot of that fish in the Zzap review many years ago and thinking "That is one well-drawn fish!"

...and then turning the page and seeing a very cool looking boss from X-Out, and thinking "That is one well-drawn... err... thing!"
