Survival Run and Cosmic Command controller question

Recommended Posts

Hey! I bought a MB Cosmic Command controller and Survival Run at the Midwest Gaming Classic this year, ($15 in a nice box, almost complete) and am just playing with it now. The game has a nice 3D effect, but I had questions about the controller itself, and was wondering if anyone else has one who can advise me.

The controller itself is in excellent shape, and apart from a slight label peel and a little yellowing of the plastic, it is nice. Came with everything in the box, minus the instructions and end label for the cart. I put the 4 D batteries in it, and I can get the lights to light up when firing, but I'm not getting any sounds or vibration that the box describes--I was wondering if there's something wrong with my controller (should I open it up and see?) or if someone who has owned this can shed some light.

The quirky controllers are one of the things I love about the 2600. Thanks for any help. :)

Age plays a huge part with these things. They weren't really wide spread and used very much. I would say that something internal has probably been weathered and stopped working. Sometimes if you use the wrong type of batteries, like alkaline, it might not work properly. I had one that worked like it should but have had some that needed light bulbs replaced and I had to resolder some points here and there to get the vibartion to work. I would say a wire has come loose or has a bad connection for the vibration. Hope this helps.
