Croc7800 #1 Posted April 11, 2009 Hey guys, I'm new here and today i decided to go to our local flee market as they almost always have Atari games strewn about. Well, I found a box of about twenty of em that I got for $10. After I cleaned them up I listed them on a piece of paper and went to the rarity scale to check em out. I found a MASH game made by 20th century fox that wasn't listed there and I was wondering if there is any info about it?
Impaler_26 #2 Posted April 11, 2009 It's in the AA Database here.
pangasinan #3 Posted April 11, 2009 (edited) If you used the rarity scale from this site then I wouldnt take much notice of it,its hasnt been updated in ages and lot of the ratings are different now. Edited April 11, 2009 by pangasinan
Croc7800 #4 Posted April 11, 2009 Well thanks guys, I shoulda did some better research before posting that question. That box had some weird titles in it like Shuttle orbiter and Solar fox, but it had some good ones i like to play like Jungle Hunt, Frogger and Pitfall
Stan #5 Posted April 11, 2009 M*A*S*H* can actually be somewhat enjoyable between two people battling it out. Against the computer it's annoying, but the bonus round is interesting.

One of my favorite 2600 games.
phaxda #7 Posted April 11, 2009 Welcome to AtariAge, that is a great find. Any time you pay about 50 cents a game, I score it as a solid buy. MASH is a fun game, so is Solar Fox. Glad to hear you like to play them--that's really the key! Shuttle Orbiter is a rare-ish game, but it's also fun.
moycon #8 Posted April 12, 2009 I always liked the game M*A*S*H* . Truth be told I liked a lot of the 20th Century Fox games.
kyle #9 Posted April 12, 2009 Shuttle Orbiter is a rarity 7 going by AtariAge thats a pretty nice pick up if your into collecting.
Croc7800 #10 Posted April 12, 2009 Yeah, I like the ones I grew up with which were Joust, Centipede, Desert Falcon Asteroids. Finding this box full of 2600 carts was awesome as there seem to be a bunch of great 2600 games. Thanks for the greetings guys, Good to see the old Atari's kept alive. Red 5 #11 Posted April 12, 2009 Shuttle Orbiter is a steal for $10.00. That's a $30 - $40 cart loose. Nice score! Most people do not get lucky enough to score a rarity 7 in the wild. And the MASH "Operation" round is really fun. According to the manual, you are pulling shrapnel out of the patient. It's a lot like the board game Operation but his nose doesn't glow red. +save2600 #12 Posted April 12, 2009 Solar Fox is awesome. 2600 M*A*S*H* leaves a lot to be desired compared to the TI-99 version :-) Seek that one out, along with a silver TI and a Speech Synthesiser and you'll be in Hawkeye heaven!
Canadian Paul #13 Posted April 12, 2009 I agree that the best part of M*A*S*H* is definitely the operation round... it seems so simple and strange, but it's a whole lot more fun and somehow less stressful/frustrating to me than the actual game. A couple flicks of the game select switch will get you to the version with only the operation game. I have this version, so mine actually comes up in the Rarity Guide search without the stars. +Psionic #14 Posted April 12, 2009 I found a MASH game made by 20th century fox that wasn't listed... When you said this, I was hoping you'd found a proto of M*A*S*H II.
jboypacman #15 Posted April 13, 2009 (edited) M*A*S*H is a pretty decent game(love the operation part of the game) but i really dig Solar Fox too. Edited April 13, 2009 by jboypacman
littleman jack #16 Posted April 13, 2009 Another round of support for M*A*S*H and Solar Fox. They're both fun. The first is better with two players, but it's a hoot either way when you get to the operation. Solar Fox really captures the feel of the arcade. Both good buys. Especially for low prices. I picked up M*A*S*H at a local flea market for $4.50. But I found Solar Fox at a GameSource in northern Georgia for $1.00. Sometimes I get lucky and they have other great titles for a dollar. It's worth the trip every so often.

tremoloman2006 #18 Posted April 16, 2009 (edited) Welcome to AA! You got a steal on Shuttle Orbiter! Solar Fox is one of my favorite titles... give that one a try for sure! You can't go wrong with any of the CBS titles really. They made some of the better games for the system. I suggest downloading Stella (2600 emulator) and then try out various ROMS. Then you will know which games to hunt for. Emulators are cool but nothing beats playing on the real thing. Oh... and try/buy some homebrews... many of the homebrew games are as good and even better than all the official releases for the 2600. It's simply amazing what people are able to squeeze out of this little system. Ladybug. Caverns Of Mars, Hunchy II, Colony 7, Qb, Stratogems, Wolfenstein VCS, and Climber 5 are ones I love just off the top of my head not to mention the upcoming Juno First which I can't wait to come to cart! Croc7800 #19 Posted April 17, 2009 Thanks for the info guys. Yeah, before I got ahold of my 2600's I was using stella and prosystem emulators. They both work pretty good and they are very close to the real thing. I think that the two carts I'd like to find next would be Tapper and Pressure Cooker. Tapper is very well done also. You have good taste my friend.
Atari Dogs #21 Posted April 17, 2009 Hmm. MASH, the operation round. Sounds like a homebrew should be made.
tremoloman2006 #22 Posted April 17, 2009 Hmm. MASH, the operation round. Sounds like a homebrew should be made. That always reminded me of the "Operation" board game. Don't touch the sides! BZZZZZZZZZZZZ! Great idea for a homebrew BTW! Indeed!
