Yeah, Realsports Volleyball actually impressed me when I first found it. Even the setting itself is just so damn.. pleasant, hah.

speaking of "bad", I'd still give honorable mention to "Basketball", for making generations (including myself) laugh, if nothing else :P

I like Video Olympics and Home Run, personally. I won't argue that they're the "best," but I have lots of fun with them. If Street Racer counts (why not, motor sports are sports..and there's a skiing game on it), I like that one a bit, too.

I think most people will agree, though, that the sports titles released by M-Network and Activision are some of the best on the VCS.

Being Canadian, I would be remiss if I didn't mention Activisions Ice Hockey as the best Atari sports game. Another nod to RS Volleyball. Really fun.

I've always enjoyed Activision's Boxing, as well as Atari's Basketball (yes, really!).

I don't really think of Racing games as sports games to me they are their own genra or games.

That's what I keep saying to all the Nascar rednecks, but they don't get it! lol

Super Challenge Baseball would be my vote for best 2600 sports title.

As a man who has played both Real Sports Football and Super Football, I feel that I can state the following:

FACT: Super Football > Real Sports Football

Seriously, SF pwns RSF in about every way:

-Super Football has several difficulty settings. Real Sports Football only has "Too Hard."

-Super Football has tons of play options. Real Sports Football has about three.

-Super Football is more technically advanced; it uses the "behind the back" point of view that modern football games use today, something that I bet is hard to do on Atari. Real Sports Football looks like a table top game.

-Super Football has better graphics than Real Sports Football. I know that graphics aren't everything, but I've already talked about the superior gameplay, and at least SF's players look like football players. They have detailed sprites. Real Sports Football's players look like single colored blobs.

-Super Football makes me feel like it's possible to throw a successful pass, even though I can't. Real Sports Football won't even let me throw before I get sacked.

By now, I'm sure you get the point. I was lucky to get both with Ataris that I bought off of ebay. If I've helped with your decision, you're welcome.

Pete Rose Baseball still amazes me. The pitcher/hitter screen is just plain awesome for the 2600. I wish there was a better way to control the infield though. Trying to figure out which player to use on pop flies can get frustrating.

And plus, S Football is the only football game with crossbars & field goals.
